As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to sign in when I’m away from my computer.
I want to be able to sign into the DevForum when I’m not on my computer.
The Roblox oAuth2 screen is nice when I’m at my computer, otherwise it’s annoying.
When clicking “Login”, this can appear instead of just redirecting you to the oAuth2 screen:
Logging in with my username and password would be extremely helpful when I’m away from my PC and cant login to Roblox.
Right now your only way to login is being logged into Roblox which doesn’t help very much, and if you’re singed into a different account then you have to logout then login to your account, which takes time depending on 2FA and 2SV.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience using the forum because I would be able to login to the forum without needing to go through Roblox oAuth
Sorry, we will not be supporting this. All Roblox apps share the same Roblox identity and we cannot allow login through side channels that are not the Roblox account for product/policy reasons.
Could you elaborate what’s annoying about it? You mentioned 2FA/2SV, but these are necessary to ensure account security.
When I’m on a device that belongs to somebody else for example and cant login to my email, I want to be able to visit with my username instead of having to login to my Roblox and have to get a code from my email, which I dont want to login to everywhere I go
This seems like a broader problem than just Developer Forum: the same would be true for any other Roblox apps that you use (game client, Studio, any web apps) on others’ devices.
I recommend checking out other login options (e.g. the “Login with another device”) which may circumvent some of the steps during login:
