Receive an error saying “An account has already been verified with this phone number”.
This is because, people can abuse it to get voice chat on numerous alt accounts,
This is intentional. When logging in using the phone number you get a menu to select which account to log into. This means they have considered the potential of multiple phone verifications.
You can also verify the same ID on multiple accounts to get voice chat, it’s not limited to just adding a phone number, and I’m 100% positive this is intentional. You can use the same email or phone number for multiple accounts, and the report can be closed.
Having a voice-enabled alt account can be useful for testing voice features in your game. It would be kind of hard to do this if you had to use multiple phone numbers or IDs.
Additionally, you can already verify the same email on multiple accounts, so I’m pretty sure this is intended behavior.
A while ago I heard that once an ID was verified, it couldn’t be re-used to verify another account, did this change…?
I haven’t tested myself but I do believe that ID verification is the only form of verification that is unique. Everything else can be used across multiple accounts (phones, emails, etc)
Reason being is that ID verification carries significantly more weight, especially legal weight (allowing access to age restricted games, allowing certain age gated functionality such as putting immersive ads in games) on top of the fact that phone numbers can be recycled and it doesn’t provide anything that should objectively be age gated (save for VC but that rant is for another day)
I verified my account with my mobile number. Then I verifried a few others with the same number. Eventually, Rōblox wouldn’t let any accounts use my number anymore.
If you’re using Veriff (as of 2022), you can use the F12 tools (specifically the Network tab). I forgot specifically how, but there is an HTTP response you can look for which tells you precisely why your ID isn’t accepted.
Veriff also sends you real-time updates (invisible to the user but visible in devtools) on the text that your ID contains. Ex grat.: that you’re Brazilian or that your date of birth is 2008-11-30.
I have a Turkish national ID and verified 5 accounts using the same ID. When one account gets restricted, it automatically affects all of them. For example, when my UGC permission was revoked, it was revoked across every linked account. This is exactly how the system is designed to work, and Roblox did not flag this as an issue.
Moreover, this isn’t just specific to me or to Türkiye — it’s valid for users in the US and everywhere else. There are plenty of people uploading UGC through alternate accounts (just look at the dynamic head creators who uploaded “half head” items — same exact situation).
