Allowing Forum Members To Have An Offtopic section, All Around Roblox Problems

I’ve been noticing on the forums that a lot of topics get flagged or taken down because they’re offtopic. I know DevForum Regulars have offtopic sections. Though I think it’ll save DevForum Staff A LOT more time by allowing Members to have an offtopic section where they can speak about topics such as Roblox server shutdowns, overall Roblox bugs, etc.

Why not just not post that material?

This will open up a separate problem: an influx of non-developers joining just for an off-topic category, and development categories lowering in activity. This is the developer forum, so development topics are expected here. Just keep flagging – moderators will get to the flags.

The things you mentioned for off topic sound more fitting to a chat-based service than the DevForum. Plus, what is there to talk about when it comes to shutdowns other than “Oh I have the same problem too?” It seems more like dumping all the exception posts into a category.

I don’t understand why you have to be so rude, it was a suggestion what others had to say… I used the correct category.

I’m not being rude – just disagreeing with the feature request, by pointing out a separate issue.

You were encouraging others to flag the post, @TheCarbyneUniverse responded with a good answer, which changed my view. All I wanted to know is what others think, and I understand now…

Yes, because that is what you should do if you find an off-topic post.

Maybe you misunderstood. @sjr04 isn’t encouraging others to flag your post–they are encouraging others to flag posts about the topics you mentioned.

If you had a category like that, it’d be extremely unorganised and cluttered considering it’s ‘off-topic’, meaning almost anything goes. Yes, Regulars get something like that, but all Regulars know how to use the forum; a lot of Members have no clue.

I do agree with you about there being a lot of off-topic posts, but I don’t see this request as much of a solution.

I don’t think that there should be a category like that. It’s going to be a clusterfuck of random posts and people arguing over each other about things that aren’t even related to development in the first place. Remember, this is a developer forum, not the old Roblox forum.

We don’t need another roblox forum, or a place where people go to talk about getting scammed or similar things because “we’re devs”.

This shouldn’t be a feature because this is a professional forum, not an outlet for players under 13 to spam stupid topics on the offtopic section. It’ll be another problem with the forum and not fix the ongoing DD offtopic problem.

FYI, that’s #platform-feedback, it’s not “off-topic”.

I believe there is a subcategory in #lounge called Off-Topic but it is restricted to Regulars+ (Trust Level 2 or higher). The reason it is and should be locked for TL2+ is that the public would spam topics in there and it would be ridiculous.

Yes. He misunderstood too when he made a post about how adopt me is ruining roblox. Sometimes when people say somthing instead of getting offended people should try to understand more.
