Greetings! I have hired a music artist (Aka, one of my friends) to make music for my game, Bloxy Kart. It is going to receive its largest update ever. I already have him remaking the default Bloxy Kart lobby soundtrack, since I own the full rights to it, and its beat, but for the maps, the music used is made by APM music, which if you didn’t know, Roblox partnered with them for developers to have easy access to music.
Since every single Bloxy Kart map is getting remade or retextured, I am wondering if I can commission my music artist to remix these tracks, as he is already remixing the default Bloxy Kart lobby.
You need to contact the publisher. On APMs legal page, there’s this:
(a) APM hereby grants you a limited non-exclusive right to use the Site solely for the purposes of researching, auditioning, reviewing, organizing, sharing, downloading and licensing of Music. The Site may not be used for any other purpose without the express written permission of APM.
(b) By downloading Music, you agree that if you use or wish to use Music in a production or in any other way, you either will operate under an existing license agreement or arrangement with APM that covers your production, or you will contact APM no later than thirty days after your first use of Music to arrange for a license from APM. Unless an agreement or arrangement with APM already exists or is negotiated by APM and you, you will be responsible for paying APM’s then current rate card for the use of Music. For the avoidance of doubt, the use of Music without a valid license from APM (that is not cured within 30 days as indicated) would constitute a violation of APM’s rights.
So you will need the paid license option from APM, you can’t use the free registration one.
Alright. Thank you everyone. After concluding, I found out that remixing APM’s music is illegal, and I will figure something else out. Thanks to everyone who replied.
