Am i allowed to restrict game access using a gamepass?

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a new game. The game won’t be pay-to-win and won’t have many gamepasses, so I initially considered making it paid access. However, I’m not a big fan of that approach because it doesn’t let players try the game before committing to buy it.

Instead, I’m thinking of making a portion of the game free, allowing players to experience a demo version and to unlock the full game with all the features, players could either purchase a one-time gamepass or have a Roblox Premium subscription. This way, players get more engaged before deciding to pay, and it’s more appealing for Premium subscribers as they can access the full game for free.

The problem is that making your game paid access in game settings prevents you from earning any premium payouts because roblox wants to keep the premium experience ‘frictionless’ according to this FAQ

Here’s the relevant section of the FAQ:

Q: Why aren’t paid experiences eligible for Engagement-Based Payouts (EBP)?

A: We want to enable a frictionless experience for Premium subscribers, so experiences that charge for access are currently not included in Engagement-Based Payouts (EBP).

Is this allowed because i make my game paid access while still earning premium payouts?
I think it’s ok because it’s free for premium players but i would still like to hear your opinion.

It seems fine to me. I’ve seen a lot of games that charge access through a gamepass, and they don’t have any issues.

We really need paid access demos. This would make your game better and increase sales and players will feel confident about purchasing it, because they know what to expect!

Yooo this would be so cool! Definitly add this.
