Making some things for it to be used in the background etc and I was wondering if I am missing any sort of “templates” here. Game is a street racer.

If you’re asking for any missing GUI features, you do need an X and a scrollbar. Since you’re making a racing game I suggest adding a transparent checkerboard flag (the win flag thing) as a background for the main GUI box to make the GUI more interesting.
