I’m making a game similar to Crossy Road and I wanted to know what ideas y’all might have for characters. These can be animals, characters from other games (I’ll contact developers before using), people (like a soldier, a police officer), or anything else you might think of.
The more characters the better, so list as many as you can! Thank you!!
Note: Animals like chickens, ducks, and frogs will be added - I’d love to hear your more unique ideas.
Well, for some ideas as to what characters to use in your Crossy Road type game. I would suggest a
•Frog
•Duck
•Goose
And an Out of Water Fish. These would most likely help for a more natural near the water feel. Or if you were going to look for animals that would normally cross roads I normally think of:
•Foxes
•Hedgehogs
•Rabbits
and Mice/Rats.
I hope this helps you
I think it’s important to provide more of an idea for theme of your game, rather than “it’s like Crossy Road” because a definitive feel for the game will provide a better idea of what characters to suggest. If you were purely trying to make a game in the style of Cross Road you could just copy the animals used in the game or just use farm animals. Cross Road itself itself doesn’t have that much depth as a game in terms of feel.
For example, if I were trying to go for a comedic feel, you can grab some untraditional animals and express them in comedic ways, a T-Rex for example.
Another option would just be Roblox characters that have been used throughout the website over time, like a Korblox Knight or a Guest. The good thing about Roblox avatars is that you can express them in many ways to match the feel of your game.
I see what you’re saying. One of the great things about Crossy Road is that it has characters of all different types; serious, comedic, horror, silly, etc.
The point of my game is supposed to be fun and easy to play - a nice time killer. I’m trying to get as many characters as I can to increase the fun and relatability (for lack of a better word).
Whatever you’d like works for me - korblox and redcliff stuff would be a nice touch!
“I’m trying to get as many characters as I can to increase the fun and relatability”
If that’s the case, I’d say your best bet would try to parody famous Roblox figures or take popular ones like the Guest. You can probably take harmless things from pop culture as well like memes from meme culture when they’re topical. Ideally, select characters you can build a stage theme off of or characters that people will really connect to so they have an incentive to continue playing to unlock said characters (or spend robux to get there).
Some possible suggestions:
Brick Battler, Zombie, Noob, John Doe, Hacker, Sword Fighter, Prisoner, Cop, etc.
Some characters I might avoid due to possible copyright issues, but you had some gold in there! A greek god pack would be awesome! If you want to help make some, that would be awesome (maybe then there would be a DevRec character ).
Instead of just characters, maybe you can have unique characters. Maybe like a duck could jump over something, I don’t know what else. Well anyway, some characters should a special abilities, maybe make them in a ‘unique’ category. Kind of like Smashy Road, which I don’t know if you are familiar with that, but it is like Crossy Road.
I am familiar with Smashy Road. That’s an interesting idea - something that Crossy Road does is have a few characters with different gamemodes (slippery penguin, android, etc.). These are purchasable for cash. I might make special characters (ones that come with a revive or gamemode) and have them purchasable with robux.
