Animal Modeling?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working with blender for around 2 months, and now after making a few dozen objects for myself and commissions, I think its time I started learning organic modeling!

I’ve decided that I’m going to aim towards modeling dinosaurs (like c’mon, they’re awesome!). But my problem is, I haven’t made any living organisms before in studio or blender! – So, would anybody have some major tips/tricks, or some steps that I could follow as a beginner?

Here is a Spinosaurus that I just started, not really sure how to go off of this one:

And here is an example of what style I’m trying to go for in the future:

Greatly appreciate any help!

You’re on the right track so far, using a template for modeling really helps you get proportions right and block out your model. In general you’re going to want to start out by creating the basic shape of the thing you’re trying to model, then working in the details later on.

I’ve progressed a little bit during my free time, but I’m still pretty lost on how I should go about on making this.

Anyone have any major steps they typically follow when modeling creatures? – I would greatly appreciate anything!
