Animation Editor 'Help' Crash

So after loosing an animation to this crash I found I could reproduce it. It happens when the animation editor opens the Context Help window when it’s been previously docked and closed.

Repro
0. Open a new place

  1. Open the context help menu and dock it somewhere and then close it
  2. Create a block rig
  3. Open the block rig in the animation editor
  4. select File > Help in the editor drop down.
  5. Studio should crash now.

I’m not seeing this happen. Do you have the latest versions of Studio and the Animation Editor?

I was getting the crash consistently yesterday, but since I updated studio today It doesn’t seem to happen anymore.

Can’t repro it either, hopefully it doesn’t happen anymore!

Okay, so I was seeing if the conditions for this crash were more specific and I managed to do it again.

If I dock the Context Help window to the left side of the screen and then dock it split with the output like this

then close it and open help from the animation editor studio crashes. I don’t know if there are any other combination of actions that cause this but that’s one.

edit: It also seems docking it back to the side of the screen after the split configuration causes the crash.

I’m still not seeing a crash. What OS are you on? Does this happen with any place or just a specific one?

Windows 10 64bit. Happens with any place.

My internet was being a little sluggish when I recorded, but that doesn’t have an effect on the problem.

Well then, that’s interesting. It may be Windows 10 specific. I’ll add it to our list of things to fix!
