Animation Editor incorrectly warning about multiple parts sharing the same name

Issue Type: Other
Impact: High
Frequency: Constantly
Date First Experienced: 2021-02-08 01:02:00 (-08:00)
Date Last Experienced: 2021-02-08 01:02:00 (-08:00)

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Download repro model DuplicateNamesRig.rbxm (3.4 KB)
  2. Bring it into Studio
  3. Open Animation Editor
  4. Select DuplicateNamesRig
  5. Observe that it throws an error referring to multiple parts sharing the same name, where there are none

Expected Behavior:
I expect the Animation Editor to allow me to select the rig without throwing a name collision error.

Actual Behavior:
The Animation Editor throws a name collision error.

Workaround:
Renaming the HumanoidRootPart bone silences the error. This also breaks the rig.

Same issue here. Why has no-one fixed this?

Snap, I created a new post with videos pinpointing its exact point of occurrence (please excuse the cropping). Feels like it is a new, or re-emergent bug today.

“This rig contains multiple parts which share the same name” even though there are no parts in the model that are the same name - Help and Feedback / Building Support - DevForum | Roblox

While I’m hijacking this thread, when will I get priv’s to post in Bug Reports?

This is still a problem, I don’t understand why skinned rigs are so damn unsupported.

Hey, I’m experiencing this as well. I can’t open animation editor because it gives the error when there are no multiple parts sharing the same name.
