Animation Feedback

Hey! I started animating yesterday and thought these two animations we’re okay.

Reloading a pistol.

Walking.

I’m really looking for feedback and am hoping to continue my journey as an animator because it’s super fun.

The walking animation isn’t very lively. Try making more “alive”.

Both animations are good but the walking isn’t as good try making it more like how you walk in real life.

Slow down both animations they are a bit to fast i would say, but if you do this and make them alot more realistic you have a potential as a very good animator.

Good luck for the future.

Edit:
Also what animation plugin (if you use one) do you use?

The walking animation makes it look very exact, if you walk in real life I don’t think your entire torso stays perfectly still. Some people try incorporating some character jump to it along with your torso following your arms (this is optional)

Leg movement makes it look like youre gliding on ice or something instead of actually picking up your feet

Keep in mind that animations are movements. Movements are the creation and utilization of energy. If you add some movement to the torso it’ll help insert that energy into the animation as a whole and bring it together. I’d also recommend lifting the feet off the ground, as it’s currently more of a shuffling animation than walking.

Here’s my suggestion:

  1. Reloading: it looks fine but try also to move his right arm.
  2. Walking: as many people said, it isn’t very lively, so maybe you should add some movement to the torso and the head (try IK feature for the legs).
Anyway, animating is not easy but step by step we understand more because it needs practice.
