A transparent layer should be shown over Roblox images: similar to what Instagram does. It would prevent users from just right clicking on images to save them. I am fully aware that it is still relatively simple to steal advertisements with this idea. That being said, it will still reduce the number of ads stolen.
This is bug report section?
How the heck did this end up here? Sorry about that… :emo-angst:
this’ll only work until people learn how to prntscrn
The goal is not to end ad stealing; it is to help prevent it.
I’ve seen some games give a black screen when prntscrn-ing. Is it possible ROBLOX could black out ads for prntscrns? :o

Have a black box appear when focus is lost on the browser?
There’s still no full-proof ad prevention. I just think they could do a little.
Honestly, my best suggestion to ad creators is to watermark their name on there or something, and to put it in a place where it can’t be photoshopped out and still look good. No website can prevent ad stealing, and you never see professional ads being stolen. I believe it’s most likely because they brandish their company on it, so others can’t take it.
The only way this could work is to have the browser black it out before focus was lost (impossible!) because Lightshot has about a 0.3 second lag.
And if you’re really dedicated, you could use a screen recorder to grab an image of it.
Well-made ads aren’t really ever stolen. It’s only the ads that have no meaning.
Any ad which is actually an advert and not some random stuff thrown together won’t get stolen becuase it’s unique to what’s being advertised.
e.g. this gets stolen because it has no meaning, even if it’s funny, its not actually an advert:
But this wont, because it’s clearly shows what place you should expect, and if the place/group it leads to isnt what’s on the advert, the viewer will not be interested in playing/joining.
Instead of Roblox spending valuable time putting anti-theft systems in place that will be bypassed in 2 days, people who make comic strips instead of adverts are just going to have to accept it will be stolen.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a little too dark for roblox? I mean, come on.
Even if roblox blacked out the screen when screenshotting, you would still be able to use Fiddler or some other web-debugging proxy to capture the requests and download the ad directly from it’s original content on t*.rbxcdn.com.
Roblox could probably add authorization tokens to the requests, but for what? You could probably still simulate the request and manage to steal the image anyway.

The point is; we want to make it harder for idiots who don’t know how to do that to steal ads. But really; the windows print-screen key (by default) is handled transparently by the OS; you can’t detect focus lost or anything, because focus really isn’t lost. It’s only with programs which override this behaviour (like lightshot) which can be prevented.
