They aren’t “trying” anything if you want my opinion
If they weren’t trying we wouldn’t receive anything at all, saying this is disrespectful to the engineers that put their time and effort (while also trying to please investors) into the system and who continue to build off of it even though they don’t necessarily have to.
it’s the effort behind the implementation
We no longer have to store information regarding punishments towards players inside of a datastore, it has made my life significantly easier because for new projects we no longer need to do this and don’t need to implement it.
must I remind you the pre-FE era, why wasn’t that even implemented in the first place?
Things were different back then, I don’t work at ROBLOX so I’m just guessing. Back then they had way less players, and thus way less developers. Writing proper networking is inherently hard for a beginner who doesn’t want to sink hours into reading about it (lazy, I know) so there was an option to have it disabled and it was clearly outlined that a lack of filtering would mean lots of exploiters. Also, if they weren’t trying they wouldn’t have forced it to be enabled.
Those “niche methods” are (well, were, dot dot dot) used extensively by front page games.
I want the money that we pay developers for to be used to make content that the players can access. Every improvement to the moderation scene is a blessing not to be taken for granted.
In 2023, Synapse joined forces with ROBLOX and whether it was either that or a Cease & Desist (and potentially a lawsuit) I’d say they lucked out quite a bit being able to work on preventing exploits with the knowledge they have had over the course of Synapse’s lifetime. This also triggered a variety of popular exploits to discontinue their services as well (probably because they all received Cease & Desists) and now the only exploits that are left are either Malware or pasted Android emulator slop.
I prefer now versus a few years ago because there are way less exploiters and all of the experienced exploiters have packed their bags and left for greener pastures leaving behind the less experienced & less annoying ones who don’t even know how to bypass simpler anti cheats.
Anyways I quit development on this failure of a game engine because serious issues are side-stepped, and creators are left without any real reason for those changes. Besides I never really made proper games.
Hope all goes well for you on that endeavor, recently I have seen great improvements to the platform that benefit me as a developer. I do agree that public relations needs some work, but that’s about it in my opinion.
