Any opinions on this build?

Currently working on a little town, honestly not sure how I’m feeling so far.
Any opinions are welcome, this is the progress so far.

Please ignore the green markers as they are just for visual aid.

You should change it from scripting support to building support.

Oh sorry! I didn’t realise I had put it in the wrong one!

Things I like about it:

  • The simplicity, because it looks cartoon-ish.

  • The grown lawns, because it gives more to look at.

Improvement needed:

  • Possibly connecting sidewalks. I don’t know if that’s for aesthetics or not.

  • Maybe add some benches, waterfountains, mailboxes, or possibly shrubs.

Overall, very cool build though! I like the simplicity!

These are good, but you can improve.

Improvements

  • Those lawns are way to small, they also don’t have enough space between each other. The lawn on the left is half the size of the right one, which puts off space for decor and other items.

  • If your going to put lawns, space out the houses. The houses look fine here, but as I see your going for lawns, might want to space the houses equally, so every house has the same lawn size.

  • Add things other than houses. If this will be a roleplay places, entertainment buildings would be nice. For example, a mall. You get what i’m trying to say? Even if it isn’t a roleplay place, it would still look nice in general.

  • The path (one the left of the picture) is very short in comparison to the others.

  • The lawns look bland. You need more decorations. For example, flowers on the lawn, gates etc. The decor dosen’t only have to be on the lawn. If you were thinking about small detail, a doorbell would fit in nice!

  • https://gyazo.com/9c388e3fa6b10acc0b2ee16923066813 no offense, this part looks bad. The tress are packed together in a corner and basically no where else. If you want to add tress, do so, but you added way to little. I don’t expect a lot of tress, just more and better spaced out/placed.

  • The path on the left of the picture isn’t connecting to the others. I feel as it should be to make it look better, it’s fine if you don’t agree on that.

  • https://i.gyazo.com/2fd00376709f67c7d183954fbb6c6c87.png The top path in this picture is hard to see. It’s to connected to the other two. If you want to keep it like that, I suggest changing the colors of the two bottom, or the top one.

  • Are you going for a simple style? If not, you basically did what people did a “cookie cutter” house, which is a term used in the real world, and means, a house that looks the same. That’s what you did. But again, I can see that you went for a cartoony-ish style, but sometimes, when people make them houses, they change all of the houses up. If you do decide to change the houses, it shouldn’t be a major change.

Tips For Improving

  • What ever style you are going for, search it up on google and re-create with details you thought of, or things you would want to add to it. You can also visit other games with what you want to build, (in this case town) that have the same style and see what they look like.

I know I know, this is alot. Maybe the most I’ve ever written on dev forums. Hope this helps you!

WAYYYYYY BETTER! the patches of green under the tress don’t lok good, you should remove it. You could also make that shrub, i think it is, better detailed, but great job!

A few things about the build

Pros

I really enjoy the feel of everything together. It has a nice kind of dusty look with all the colors together.

Your houses look great, and look like they don’t use alot of bricks, which is perfect.

The location of the houses are very nice too. Right in the corner of a mountain.

Cons

The trees aren’t spread around the map, and are only stuck in 1 corner.

This map looks unfinished, and I’m sure it’ll be perfect once it’s finished.

The house chimney is too short.

Add some footpaths ,streetlights and bushes ect. You also might wanna make some new styles of the houses so it doesn’t get repetitive and move the trees around so they’re not stuck in one place

Additional changes?

Wow, It looks amazing in my opinion. The only changes I could suggest are:

  • Maybe make the bridge out of a different material like “cobblestone” as it currently looks a bit weird made out of wood, or add a little bit more detail to it.

  • This rock looks a little too big, possibly size it down a bit:
    rock

Other than that it looks great.

Hope these helped. Great work :+1:!

The build has a good start, but I feel it lacks extrusion and depth. The objects should be more realistic by showing more extrusions on stuff like windows. Maybe also make the houses a bit different and add some assets like mail box’s, signs, grass, etc.

Hey Koss!

I’m overjoyed that you’re taking incredible amounts of effort to make your design a reality, admirable effort my friend.

Suggestions:

  • The place has potential, don’t get me wrong. It just feels too systematic and linear right now, I’d try to knock back on the square border mountains and maybe go for a more open world look.
  • For the river cutting down the scene, I’d first remove the black cylinder and make an actual cave/crevice for the water to come though and have the river flow in a curve as opposed to one straight line, this will give the build much more depth.
  • I feel like before you continue building the terrain/environment you should definitely increase your building set, you definitely have a nice theme and style, I’d like to see you play that up more and have more diversity in architecture. (Recoloring some buildings wouldn’t hurt either)

That’s all for now, great work and an even better attitude. Keep on keeping on! c:
