The Drying Event [7/31/23 - 9/30/23]
- The alpha map has become a desert wasteland, complete with cacti, sand storms, and a lower sea level
- Added three new event locations - The Oasis, the Military Encampment, and [REDACTED]
- Added 48 new Limited event cosmetics that can only be found and unlocked during the event
- Added the M1918 Tankgewehr, a devastating event anti-tank rifle with unique stats
- Added Sarsaparilla consumable
- Changed Military vehicle color to tan, and added Derelict variants of military vehicles
Utilities:
- Added 17 new utility items which grant the player various benefits and abilities
- Added a local sound effect that plays when a utility is equipped
- Redesigned and rewrote the utility system
- Binoculars and Range Finders are now activated via a keybind, and can be used with a firearm equipped
- Removed the static binoculars holding animation in favor of a procedural one
- All Lights are now used by a keybind and can be used at almost any time
- Removed the light holding animations in favor of better accessibility
- Flashlights when in use now brighten the game lighting instead of your screen
- Maps and compasses are no longer always accessible, they now require a utility
- New players now spawn with a map, compass, and flashlight
- Returning players will be given, one time, the three utilities mentioned above

General Loot:
- Added loot spawns for all 17 new utility items across the alpha map
- Added two Fresh Bread Loaf consumables
- Added Ketchup and Mustard consumables
- Increased spawn rates for most common vest cosmetics
- Changed all Desert camo cosmetics to be more saturated in color
- Changed all older Desert camo cosmetics to be Rare tagged, and removed them from regular military clothing loot pools
Melee:
- Increased Combat Knife, Crowbar, Hatchet, and [REDACTED] damage to 42
- Slightly reduced swing speed for Chef Knife, Combat Knife, and [REDACTED]
- Slightly increased swing speed for Baton
Lighting and Atmosphere:
- Rewrote the lighting and cycle system
- Added support for changing lighting cycles at midnight
- Added three lighting cycles for the drying (cloudy, clear, sand storm)
- Lighting can now be influenced by various game objects
- Rebalanced the game’s ambient audio levels
- Added ambient particles for the drying event
- Added Salt and Mud footstep sound effects
Icons:
- Attachments, magazines/ammo, and firearm skins now display on the firearm icon
- Icons can now dynamically adjust to keep their object in frame
- Firearms no longer display the firearm skin as an icon backdrop
- Fixed a bug that was causing firearms to not be formatted properly for icon use
Miscellaneous:
- Added keybinds for turning on/off binoculars
- Aiming binoculars in third person orients the camera to face your mouse position
- Converted a number of dated physics systems to use new physics APIs
- Rewrote some of the hover text and tooltip system to work with utility mods
- Flashlight light cones now follow your camera direction
- Changed default keybinds for flashlights, vehicle lights, and vehicle sirens
- Fixed the first person camera rotation animations for firearms
- Fixed (90% anyways) “spinning zombies” / zombies circling your character when chasing
- Fixed a number of cases where map geometry was blocking container looting
