Hi all,
I am working on a car building game and after hours and hours of tutorial and forum reading about semi-realistic car controllers I don’t really know where to head to.
So I’ve made a prototype car, when you test it enable the MainController script on the server after loading in.
test_car.rbxm (62.0 KB)
First of all, these are my current problems:
- The car’s wheels sometimes glitch and jump at high speeds, probably due the hinges don’t have enough forces to hold the wheel in one place, but I am not too sure.
- It’s hard to control the car at high speeds, it feels like a brick, very hard to steer
- The car even with ~500+ mass and friction 2, frictionWeight 5 (so higher than the terrain’s frictionWeight) feels slippery and even the slightest steer will result in a 360 spin
- The car keeps tip over when you stop applying force to it [so you stop pressing forward button], but it doesn’t sound too hard to fix
My question is where should I start to fix these problems? Most of these answers had been answered on forums already, but they are usually limited on “change the physic of the car until they are good for that car”.
But I don’t really use preset cars or car models. In the game everyone can build their own idea, the car be bigger, heavier or smaller or taller anything. I can’t change the physics value for everyone’s own idea.
Should I try to use A-Chasis? I thought about the idea, but I think it’s too complex for my case and it would need the redesign of nearly all systems.
Or should I try to make my own car controller? Or there is a more simpler arcadish car controller i can use?
Thank you for any help!
