Are assets on the Roblox catalogue free to use in our games?

I understand that assets created by “Roblox” are definitely free to use, such as audio and hats, etc. But are the assets found on the catalogue created by users free to use?

There are just a lot of well-made assets and I’d very much like to know if I am free to use them.

Thanks.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

If they are sold for money or are offsale, then no they’re not free to use and you would have to get permission from the creator. If it is obtainable for free like a free model or free decal then you can, but the catch is that if they stole it (ex. they uploaded a copyrighted song) then you’re still responsible if you choose to use it.

So to be clear, I cannot use InsertService to add user-created assets to my game?

Everything that Roblox made is free to use, but you’d have to ask UGC creators if you want to use their accessories.

Anything created by Roblox is free to use on Roblox. If Roblox gets rid of a gear, like a promotional one for an outside company like Cheerios, you should be safe and remove it from your game as if they had to remove it so should you.

You shouldn’t be using copyrighted material in the first place.

I think it’s sort of a grey area since it’s uploaded to Roblox. Take this accessory for example, it’s a Roblox accessory (once was free).

I’m not entirely sure if I’d be able to use it in my game though. I don’t think Roblox ever released a statement on it.

There is also Disney XD models by Roblox however there is a high chance of DMCAs for anyone who uses them without being in the brand deal (that happened years ago)
