Are free models ok to use?

I am stuck between an argument rn as my question is are free models ok to use. I want to use some guns for a game I’m planning but I’m not sure if it would be ‘appealing’ to the user/other developers, I’m learning to script still and can only script basic scripts eg if a answer is right baseplate changes to red etc.

Obviously it’s ok to use free models. If you wouldn’t be allowed to, then they wouldn’t be up there.

As a base rule, don’t use free models.

It isn’t your own work, and a lot of them contain malware that could be catastrophic to your game.

It is ok to use free models, but if you’re really serious about developing you will try to stay away from them.

Would I not receive backlash for it?

You could recive a bit backlash, I don’t recommend making ur game just by free models, but you could use some of them. I also recommend you to credit the person who made the free models.

I’d say use as little free models as possible when making a game. Because yes as @HamburgersAreC00l stated, you could receive backlash just by making a game only with free models. And another reason why you should use little free models is because people like inserting viruses into the model, which can ruin and corrupt the game.

Yes there is nothing wrong with using free models to speed the progress of a project or-game as, they are public domain meaning you could use them modify them and learn how to replicate them into your own version.

This question is related to other previous threads. That being said, yes your allowed to use free models as they may come in handy to speed up the process of your upcoming game, I feel like free models should mostly be used as a temporary placeholder instill you can learn how to replicate your own version. If you continue to learn how to ‘script’ overtime you will be more focused on making your own polished assets.

You could use many free models as much as needed just a note: crediting the creator isn’t required as there public domain.

Well, look at some older games. AdventureBlox used a TON of free models but it was still popular. I doubt most people would notice let alone care about it. As long as your game doesn’t rely on them a ton, you should be fine lol.
