Are Illumination Maps for SurfaceAppearance Possible?

I’m currently making a game that’s about our solar system

The area marked with the red square is night. I want to be able to add a way to illuminate it with buildings and etc.

If you don’t know what a Illumination Map is: How to Create the World in 1 Minute - YouTube

due to the recent downage, going to have to bump this. sorry.

I see what you mean. I’m not much of a builder, but I’m ninety-nine percent sure roblox doesn’t support shaders like such. You could put a particle emitter on the dark side of the planet, with no velocity, infinite lifetime, tiny size, and relative to the world, if you want the planet to spin eventually. The alternative option is placing parts that disappear on the light side, and show on the dark side, each with tiny size and neon material. Un-anchoring them and welding them to the planet will make them spin correctly.

Again, I’m a scripter, so I’m likely not the best source of advice. Worth a shot, though.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I was considering using particles but I want to make it as realistic as possible. Thanks!

U could make color map transparent using photo editor and duplicate mesh and change it to neon and increase size of other mesh and add ur surface appearance in this mesh

First of all, you can’t make SurfaceAppearance transparent.
Second of all, that makes no sense and would look very off.

Who said that u can creat transparent png color map and set alpha of surfaceappearence to transparency

Oh hey, never knew that. But still doesn’t fit my needs.
