Are selling ranks for Robux against the TOS?

If I owned an RP group and sold ranks for Robux would be against TOS? If it is against TOS would I be allowed to sell ranks if progression in the group was based on playing game instead of attending trainings or just getting promoted by an HR?

Group rank purchases are unenforceable by Roblox, and are therefore prohibited due to the potential for scamming.

Is it frowned upon? Yes.
Could you get in trouble for doing it. Most likely not. It’ll slip under the cracks as there are millions and millions of groups on Roblox.

No it’s not, but saying you will pay people who have a certain rank is.

Just because other groups are doing it, doesn’t mean it’s allowed. Roblox is clear about their stance on unenforceable purchases and rank selling is one of them.

If you use other games as an example to talk about rules rather than the circumstances themselves you run the risk of delivering misinformation. Some users also may take your advice at face value and end up doing something they shouldn’t be doing.

Groups will be locked if they are explicitly selling items to get ranks in a group. Clothing should be sold for the express purpose of wearing and game passes or developer products should be used for the express purpose of gaining immediate benefits in-game via available APIs.

I’m not staff so I can’t say this authoritatively and it falls on a grey area but you can probably grant a rank for a purchase iff the purchase can’t be invalidated by being removed from the group. This meaning that players can get a rank if they’re in the group or not, but they always get something from the game pass when they play the game.

tl;dr Don’t tie benefits to group ranks. Tie benefits directly to purchases. Maybe offer a promotion in the group iff the player joins the group, preferable if it’s automated. Last part is uncertain.
