I’ve been recently making a battlegrounds game having 6 characters from 3 different animals. And I was coming up with names, my curious self-asked ChatGPT if these names are copyrighted or trademarked. And the answer it gave me was: “If these names are being used in a way that creates confusion with existing copyrighted characters or franchises, or if they’re directly lifted from copyrighted material, it could potentially lead to copyright infringement issues.”
So please, if anybody knows if these names are copyrighted, please tell me.
Fujitora - Blind Justice
Doflamingo - Heavenly Demon
Sukuna - King of Curses
Toji - Sorcerer Killer
Garou - Hero Hunter
Speed 0’ Sound Sonic - Swift Shadow
i wouldn’t use hero hunter because it could seem like you are copying strongest battlegrounds which wouldn’t get you in trouble but could confuse people and make you seem less credible
You can still use trademarked names as long as they’re not completely the same, if I wanna make a fast food game about McDonalds, I can name it Mac to reduce the risks.
Considering that these names directly reference the characters from their respective series, there is a very, very (very) high chance they could cause issues if your game gains traction.
