Im planing on making an fiction emulator/virtual machine.
i got the basics down but is it against roblox tos to host the virtual machine on roblox.
and if i do should i make it so only my own code that i written for said virtual machine.
Parallel Luau? A copy of an OS? What do you mean?
basically it emulates cpu instructions+registers, ram and video memory. etc. so basically a virtual pc.
currently making it rn in another engine.
There should be no problem unless the virtual machine can cause some sort of harm or the game breaches intellectual property.
Wouldn’t players be able to do whatever they want on the machine? I don’t know much about virtual machines, so I’m probably wrong.
If you’re talking about a Nintendo-type emulator where people play Pokemon and other games like that on their computers, then you shouldn’t have any issues (assuming the games you allow people to play on it are created by you, or other users).
Otherwise…I’d be a bit skeptical on whether Roblox would allow that.
I’m fairly sure I’ve seen a Game Boy emulator on Roblox in the past and it was completely open-source.
I think the only issue you’ll have regarding this is supplying ROMs or files for your emulator (I think hosting a Windows 10/11 ISO would be fine, but like distributing copies of Pokémon Red would obviously not be), you have to make users supply them.
No, i dont plan on letting players run code.
Most of the code will be example scripts by me
