Are we allowed to promote our Social Media platforms on our Roblox Games?

I see in games like Pet Sim 99, where they promote their Social media platforms in game.

As well as that we can link our social medias in our game, group, and profile webpages.

However whenever we try to say these social media platforms in chat they get censored.

Which leads me to be confused… Are we allowed to promote our social media accounts and communities in our games?

List of Censored Words:

  • Youtube
  • Yt Channel
  • Subscribe ← (Censored if spelled in lowercase)
  • Twitter
  • Discord
  • Twitch ← (Sometimes)
  • Facebook ← (Sometimes)

These censored social media platforms are all things that are ‘supported’ by Roblox according to their Roblox Community Standards Page.

If you take a look at the Roblox Community Standards Page, Under ‘Directing Users Off-Platform’

We are technically allowed to promote our platforms, as long as we arent doing so by sharing any url links.

But if we are allowed to promote our platforms, in the condition we aren’t sharing url links, then why is it censored in chat? It is very confusing as to what is considered an acceptable behaviour to Roblox.

My Purpose

  1. I want to promote my Youtube Channel and Discord Server to encourage users to give me suggestions on what I should add to my game next, either through Youtube’s comment section, or at a designated Forum Channel on my Discord Server. Then I want to take a screenshot of these comments and display them on my game, to showcase which peoples ideas got implemented.
  2. And have a Fanart section in my game with a Username of the Person’s social media account who made the art.

Are these things that are allowed? Let me know what you guys think!

This is because you missed the part in their policy and other reasons mentioned below

While it does specifically state URLs, this seems to apply to directing users off platform without any link mentioned as well. Like if you would say, “Go to discord my handle is @handle” would still seem to violate the rules since the users are directed going to the specific website or service. Also the chat is visible to users under 13 and social links aren’t visible to users underage so i guess it makes sense why it is censored

To allow mentions of your social media accounts, you would need to apply the PolicyService API to ensure only allowed people can see the links:

Hope this helps
