I created a fun little game as an experiment. It has a mechanic that will permanently kick players. I am curious what you guys think. If you could please try it and let me know, that would be great! Thanks
Also, I am happy to try to explain any design decisions I made and am open to suggestions and criticisms.
Meh, if youāre going to do something like this I feel like it could have been accomplished in a much more interesting way. Simply put, a 3-life heads/tails game is neither fun nor exciting. You play your 3 lives and youāre doneā¦ itās interesting but it doesnāt feel like much of a game. As lives are not conserved in this game (winner doesnāt gain a life, every game 1 life is taken away from the whole), I donāt see any point in banning players who run out of lives. You inevitably run out of players, and quickly too.
I think you could create much more interesting game mechanics based on player-player interactions that actually depend on individual action rather than luck. Imagine some kind of game that requires random players to work together with chat disabled to reach an end goal where ultimately only 1 person can succeed. Would the random player let you progress in the end? Would you let the random player progress? Would you both fight in the end for the single spot? Idk specifics, but I think itād be a cool idea.
This is super cool as eventually based on probability there will be one person who would win against every winner, like a massive tournament tree.
The only downside is that imagine someone has 99 wins and flips against a new player, both are 50/50. However say the person who has won 99 times always picks heads, and the new player always picks tails, for the 99 winner to win 100 times the odds are actually 7.88861 x 10^-31 which is very small.
The math checks out here.
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
Iām actually scared to play because I donāt want to end up banned from the game through no fault of my own. If there was an element of skill involved I might be more inclined to try it, but then with 3 lives and no way to re-gain them, there canāt really be much of a learning curve.
It would be fun to implement the Prisonerās Dilemma like this, and make it so that you can choose between 2 moves (defect or cooperate) and then try to get the highest score, and let people retry different strategies if they fail. Although thatās subject to manipulation if you get two people to constantly play each other
I donāt really like the idea of a permanent end. Imagine all the Robux from people buying livesā¦ course, that probably wasnāt the purpose of the game.
For some reason, the server I am in is EXTREMELY bias to tails. It is basically āTails neva failsā as another player stated.
Edit: Andā¦ dead. I think I will just leave a dislike, it wasnāt a fun game for me.
I thought this was insanely fun. There was some tyrant king ruling the castle and I went inside and told him we had to duel to the death. I said if he declined my challenge, I was the new king.
So I killed the king and was the new ruler until some other guy came along and dueled me. I sent two of my knights to duel him but he got lucky and beat both of them, and defeated me in the end.
For your next smash hit, do a vampire game where you steal lives instead of just removing them.
Really interesting concept. Iāve been entertaining the idea of a game with permanent death before and itās interesting to see how this played out.
Not surprisingly itās a pretty empty game now that most of the people interested in it have died off
FYI if all you want to do is explore a little you can play as a Guest. Itāll kick you out after a couple of minutes (understandably) but itās enough time to get a look around in an area. Then you can clear your cookies and do it again.
