Reproduction Steps:
Go to the website: Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub
Search a known article. The one I chose is called “Building a Basic Car”.
Watch as it shows irrelevant documentation instead of the article:
Hi @SubtotalAnt8185, thank you for reporting this. The document that you’re looking for, “Building a Basic Car”, is a legacy document that doesn’t appear on the Documentation website’s search because it isn’t on the website anymore.
However, if you’d like to revisit some of that document’s content, you can view a public archive of it at Building a Basic Car (archive.org). I can provide you with the old .rbxl file, CarKit.rbxl (41.6 KB), but the videos from the legacy document are no longer available. Our documentation on Mechanical Constraints and Mover Constraints might be helpful to you.
We’re constantly working to improve our documentation and tutorials. If there’s anything you’d like to see or learn, please feel free to reply with additional details, and we’ll see what we can do.
This document title was an example, but this has been an issue for my workflow because I rely on multiple of these legacy documents for reference. One of them that I use quite often is the one on Bezier curves.
I reference these articles quite frequently because it’s easier than opening a file of all my code examples. Although I doubt the article still exists, it was still helpful and explained the basics of the topic while maintaining fluent in the Roblox environment. So, legacy or not, I can still apply the concepts to my use case.
I see this as a minor inconvenience that I would prefer to be fixed, but it is not preventing my work in any way; rather just slowing my work down. I’ll find quicker ways to access my code examples eventually.
A lot of these legacy documents I found were fairly useful guides, but there were many that were removed when I changed to the new docs page a year ago. I feel like these should be brought back or at least rewritten. Even for advanced developers like myself, sometimes the simple things in the articles slip my mind and the articles are the only place on the internet with my answer.
Just to close out this issue, we’re working to fill more gaps in our documentation all the time - a replacement for the Bezier curves article is not currently scoped, but if you’d like to refer to it, you can still access it here: Bézier Curves | Roblox Creator Documentation
For context, when we cut articles from the docs site, it’s usually because the article was too difficult to maintain, used deprecated features or code, or went outside the scope of Studio documentation (or, often, some combination of the three!). Where this means losing coverage of important features, we’ll always aim to replace them down the line with higher-quality, up to date content. We always welcome any specific feedback or requests for coverage of features.
