Asking tips, etc for building

Hello, my name is robloxjw02. Most of the time I develop on scripting and GUI. Now, I want to learn about building.

Can anyone reference any good plugin for building? Right now, I use F3X , Archimedes and GapFill.

Also, I’m not that “creative” about imagining a building. Is there a way to find good references for complex buildings like realistic military sites, etc. Thank you so much!

For the topic about inspiration for building, I believe the best way would to just Google it, but if you have a favorite place such as what you described in your post, I would do that, like Area 51 for example if you like that! What you could also do is if you have Minecraft, go to server’s lobbies and look at the buildings and possibly try to replicate or make something similar on Roblox; unlike Roblox, in Minecraft, most buildings have interiors as they make it all accessible to players, this also works for just going around other Roblox games and finding reference! If not these, go outside to a local coffeeshop or something similar and analyze it’s structure and how its built and replicate it.

Let’s say like now , I wanna make like real Sandhurst Military Academy, but on google even using google maps, i don’t get full details, i don’t know maybe because it’s military sites so maybe it’s kinda private?

Right XD, you would have to use your imagination to fill in those parts and your knowledge of what military bases consist of, like barracks, shooting range, a fenced gate and perimeter, etc! If the map shows a on top view, you could assume what’s there based on the shapes of the structures.

From what I hear you are a high poly builder, but i have a YT video that can give you some incite. its a self plug but its actually useful lol.

If you want tips on HOW to become a better modeler, jump to the 10 minute mark. if you want plugins there is a timestamp for that. i talk about technical and artistic things so, i recommend you give it a listen.

Is it good to use like shape pack or a little bit of free model as our reference?

I don’t it’s just me or some people too, for me making the interior in tune with the exterior is the hardest part, like you wouldn’t want to make modern chair for medieval or ancient theme building.

I would recommend a plug-in called Artists Brush (I think), it’s a plug-in that automatically randomizes the placement of assets (makes them slightly bigger or smaller, tilts them a little bit), it’s very useful for mass placing decorations on a map.

Envision what it is you want to build, if that would be concept art, or a diagram, anything your imagination can figure. You’re not always looking for a specific art style, but you’re looking for what works for you. Practice makes perfect, just attack it head on!!

Thanks for the encouragement because yeah you know I just want to try to get out of my comfort zone, and I can see building is not an easy thing to do, I mean it needs creativity, not just like put here put there.

Thank you for your idea. If you have any other references let me know.

I don’t mean to be greedy or anything, but I think mastering all aspects of developing would be much better.
