Assets API 403 with new API keys generated under groups

I maintain a tool Asphalt which uses the Open Cloud Assets API to create assets. I’ve had several users report that they are getting 403 errors from the API when trying to upload assets.

Myself and others have tried hitting the Assets API directly and are receiving the same 403 errors for these types of new keys.

From what I have gathered:

  • This only happens with API keys under groups
  • This only happens with API keys created as of a couple weeks ago (I don’t have issues with old API keys)
