Assistance in Understanding The Game Search Algorithm

(This is my first topic post on the Developer Forum, please provide me feedback if this is in the wrong category or has any other issues. I have looked through many other posts and still cannot find solid information on what I’m looking for. Thank you.)

My game is “Arcade Island 2: Roblox Arcade”. An extremely large percentage of our players that come from the search use the keyword “Arcade” to find the game.

Before you read any further into this post, please understand it is NOT essential for the game to have the number one spot, and I don’t want anyone to believe that it is my intention to “take over”, the other games. My intention is not to be greedy, just looking for a better understanding of the factors of the algorithm. With all due respect to “[New] Arcade Tycoon”, my current view is that (second place) “Arcade Tycoon”, not even my own game, deserves to be in the number one spot.

Game “[New] Arcade Tycoon” (nothing against them, all these games are great quality) spontaneously took the number one spot over “Arcade Tycoon”, a game that has been out for years, has a rating of 85%, and millions of plays. I’m perplexed because the term “arcade” is present in my description ten times, and twice in the title, in addition to the fact that my game has a significantly higher amount of visits and concurrent players then “[New] Arcade Tycoon”. That in itself doesn’t make much since, because if “[New] Arcade Tycoon” is able to overtake “Arcade Tycoon”, shouldn’t “Arcade Island 2: Roblox Arcade” do the same? That being said, my game does have a 3% lower rating than the number one game, but if rating was that much of a factor, it seems as if (second place) “Arcade Tycoon” should be in the number one spot. My game is not filtered out of any sorts.

Are there other factors that influence the algorithm that anyone could further explain? As I said before, I’m not really gunning for the number one spot, I’m just interested in getting to the bottom of this.

Happy developing!

Like ratios might have something to do with it. I also know that they updated the search algorithm, so your mentions of arcade a lot could possibly have something to do with it? I dunno.

Doubt it, see below:

When you search Discover - Roblox you get a lot of unrelated results.

Add an exclamation point and relative searches come up (including mine if you scroll a bit), even ones without exclamations anywhere in the title or desc: https://www.roblox.com/games/?Keyword=trick%20or%20treat!

One thing that annoys me is our game has 275+ total plays but is below games witha 0% like dislike and 4 plays!

I mean, they probably won’t disclose how it works anytime soon…

I agree, it does seem extremely random how it works.
