Attempting to depict a house using a google image

I am looking for feedback, tips & tricks or anything that could help improve this build:

As seen in the picture above, the build is a bit off for some reason. I compiled a list of highlighted issues that I’d appreciate if you address them in your post:

  • First, the windows aren’t in their best looking. They are not just unfit for the building but also taken in the lowest quality possible. I literally just grabbed the google image, snipped them windows, and uploaded a bunch of decal window pieces like they will look any better than actually making the scene.
One thing to notice: The asset was specifically designed to be a house for outside view only and not a whole house that you can enter. If there is a more efficient and better way to do this, without having to build the inside of the house, please do mention them in your post and I will be forever thankful.

  • Despite the roofs being a literal nightmare to make, I’d do anything to remove those horrible looking triangles or at least remake them in a more efficient way. I always wondered how’d you go about making a good looking roof without resorting to blender. What I mean by that, is without having to spend a ton of time in blender just to make a roof similar to the one below. I’ve gone back and forth looking for even tutorials just to make a roof. None worked and I think this is the best I can go. Though, if you have any tips & tricks on how you go about making a good looking roof, it will not only benefit me but also every person that is/will be reading this topic.

  • The walkway is a new addition that is not featured in the google image itself but rather inspired from since the terrain editor is not one of the tools that I’d work with when it comes to fillers. That also means more issues like an empty walkway. I think it would improve with something you can pay attention to instead of the walkway itself. While a little garden like in the image below is as good as a filler, like I mentioned before the terrain editor is a frustrating tool to work with at the moment. Maybe the garden being made out of parts rather than terrain is a better solution, but what do you think? Should the garden’s dirt be made out of parts or terrain?

In conclusion, that’s entirely my perspective of the building and the issues I noticed. What is your perspective on the build? Be sure to write your own opinion without sugar-coating the whole thing, optionally including the solutions for the issues you noticed.

I’d appreciate it if you make a feedback based on the build alone rather than comparing it to the google image.

Build looks good overall to be honest.

I agree with you, roofs are just a pain to make in general. I’m thinking what’s making it feel “off” is the roof. I think everything else looks great. As for areas to improve, I’ll try my best to explain.

First off, roofs are generally a single large section with things kinda going off of it. For example, this one is a single hipped roof with multiple gable roofs facing the front of the house

Here’s something quick I made, let’s say it represents the front portion of your house. See at the front how there is a difference in angles.

I personally think that homes look better when the roofline angles are consistent. So instead of what I have here, you could instead find a way to make it consistent.

Here’s something quick:

Another thing, maybe change these windows to be open gable instead of hip roof?

Anyway, that’s really the only thing I can see that would be making it feel “off” as it’s a really good build to be honest.

It looks very good. Though I do have a question and a suggestion.

For the front of the house, at the walkway. You tried replicating that section that had the rocks, though in your house they all look the same as if they were copy and pasted. I would try randomizing them. Or at least having 3-5 different rock meshes to copy and paste to give variety.
