If you buy audio for commercial use then it’s usually going to be a one game licence.
You don’t have unlimited games to use the audio in.
When you’ve uploaded your audio is not free BUT people can still copy the ID and use it in their games!
If you want people to feel secure in their one game licenced music then you NEED to stop this audio stealing. I know that if you made all non free audio unloadable it’d cause many games to go mute so what I’m asking is this:
Add a new button called Personal.
Personal is unchecked by default, it have to be enabled for each audio you upload.
IF you have personal button checked then only those who have taken the audio file can play it.
If someone tries to use the id it will simply not play since they dont own the asset and the asset is personal.
Please do consider this, I try to make quality games and for that I need quality audio.
I can’t go searching for free to use audio, those are few and are usually low quality.
I don’t understand why anyone can use a non-public audio in the first place. What is the point of making it private if that setting doesn’t change anything.
I agree that there should be better control over audio. Right now, I won’t upload any non-royalty-free music because there is no way to control who can play it.
Being able to hide decals would be really nice, too. As someone who makes both custom decals & sound effects, and sometimes pays for sound licenses, I’m really tired of people stealing stuff that’s meant only for one of my games.

This current thread is less “don’t let anyone use anyone else’s stuff” to “optionally don’t let anyone use my stuff”
The discussion a few posts in to the old thread turns into what this thread is / is going to be
Bumping this because it’s been one year since Roblox made many audio assets private and “temporarily” shut down the UGC audio marketplace. I should give Roblox credit for removing the fees and implementing a new privacy system (where asset IDs are by default protected from unauthorized use) but they sadly have not given us an update on when we’ll be allowed to choose to set audio to public again, or why its been on hold for this long. The upload limits have been a bit of a pain as well.
