Rarely, when I try to launch Roblox through the website, I’ll sometimes get this error:
The error itself isn’t a big deal; I can just try joining the place again and it should successfully launch the client.
However, whenever this error appears, then the next time I launch Roblox all of my saved settings in the in-game Roblox menu will be reset to their default values, and I’ll have to manually redo all of them.
I don’t know if there’s some technical reason behind my settings being cleared, or if it’s some weird bug, but it can be pretty annoying, which is why I’m reporting this.
Repro
Get a random “Authentication Failed” error upon starting the Roblox client. Note that the error itself is pretty rare. I don’t know if you can force it to appear.
Close the error and try starting Roblox again.
If Roblox launches successfully, open the in-game esc menu. All of your previously-saved settings will be reset to default values.

Thanks for the report. When launching from Roblox web and receiving an Authentication Failed alert, does this cause a force log out on the Roblox client and require a re-login to the account with reset menu settings?
Yes, but you don’t have to manually log back in, as you can just click the play button on the website to automatically log into the app on that account.
