Play the experience, expecting GUI text to be auto-translated as users play (as described in the experience localization setting toggle for the feature)
Notice that no translations are created for the text when looking on the localization page in the Experience Settings.
Expected Behavior
The auto-translate feature is meant to “capture text from experience UI while users play” as stated by the toggle in Experience Settings. Frequently displayed text should be auto-translated and stored in my translation data, so that players from different regions can read GUI text in their native language.
Actual Behavior
No translations are in my data when I look in my experience settings, and no text is auto-translated for players in different regions.
Workaround
Currently, the only way in which an entry is added to my localization data is when a GUI’s text is displayed on my screen, as the experience owner. The feature only seems to work when I am in-game and only for stuff on my own screen, which is contrary to the expected behavior, which states that text is captured “while users play.” In an experience with a vast amount of unique text, it is extremely impractical and defeats the purpose of the auto-translate feature if I have to be in game for translations to be added.

I can confirm this, when I play games I do not see any translations like I used to. It seems that this started to occur around the beginning of 2023. Here’s some examples of games that have localization text on but still are missing the translation for text:
As you can see, even though these games have AutoLocalize, any entries during 2023 seem to not appear at all, even though with all the thousands of users playing it should have been captured by now.
As shown here, the GUI button does not translate no matter what language is selected. My experience already has everything configured properly from what I can see here:
Some behavior I found worth noting is that it seems that text only translates when I join as the experience owner. However, this is not practical in a situation where a game uses lots of unique text or pushes an update with new text. As shown by the other post on this thread, games with hundreds of thousands of players don’t even receive translations for any text that comes from their newer updates.
All in all this feature seems broken at the moment, and is contradictory since it only captures text “while the experience owner plays” rather than “while users play”, which is not really automatic as advertised. I am working on a project with unique text and I do not want to have to drag myself to sit through every dialogue, especially as I expand on my in-game text as I continue to work on the game. It should be automatically translated as users play the game.
Hey thank you for the report @gIoveworId. Just to double check you have enabled automatic text capture and automatic translation for the languages you are interested in?
Can you clarify if you are not seeing new source strings or you are seeing source strings but no translations?
A couple things to be aware of:
The scraping system will automatically scrape content the creators of the experience see in game
Scraping from your users follows a process where we only add the string if we have some confidence its useful. This means multiple players in multiple game instances and sessions need to see the same string before we add it to your table. This helps keep from scraping transient or garbage text and filling up your tables
There is an entry size limit of 10,000 entries for a localization table. We are making improvements here but tables do scrape content that sometimes needs to be cleaned up.
Many experiences had the scrape setting enabled but then disabled later on which means the system will not pick up new strings and translate
Hey, I do have everything configured properly as far as I know. The issue I’m having is that text that appears constantly is not being scraped from users at all, even though all the players are seeing the same string. I’m not sure how the confidence system works but it seems to be somewhat flawed based on what I’ve been experiencing as of late, it used to work much better a couple months back in 2022. Based on your explanation about multiple sessions, I decided to set my max player count to 1. Despite having 20+ players in unique servers, the text was not translated. I also tried it with a more typical server size, and it still was not added to my source or language data at all.
