Backspace shouldn't delete things

If you press backspace it deletes your selection. This makes no sense and it’s basically impossible to debug tools where the bug only appears when you drop it.

EDIT: Changed title since apparently you can use delete too

Delete key and backspace key both delete for me.

Why is backspace a hotkey for delete? Lol that makes no sense.
Is it meant to be like, for people with terrible keyboards that are missing basic keys?

Delete == backspace on apple keyboards.

Backspace is the general purpose ‘back’ button. That is, ‘get rid of that’.

Backspace shouldn’t delete selections because backspace is already used for dropping tools.

Btw the title of the thread was probably mis-written ripull

[strike]A temporary workaround is to deselect your current selection, then you can drop the tool. <- so not ‘basically impossible’[/strike]
“Not an option since I often need to keep the object selected so I can track property changes (position, parent, etc).” Ah ok.

The ‘back’ button means ‘get rid of that’? All my life I’ve been under the impression that the ‘back’ button was ‘undo what I just did’.

Not an option since I often need to keep the object selected so I can track property changes (position, parent, etc). Writing a script for that is unnecessary.

So when you want to remove something near the top of a script, do you backspace everything you have already written to delete it?

No. That’s what cursors are for!

makes typo clicks fixes

Backspace literally means “to make empty space behind the cursor”

Is there an option to disabled it in the shortcuts?

Nope :frowning:
