Badge Icon Transparency

image

Hey, so I have a character for a badge icon, as shown above, its a little balloon with a transparent background, but when i go to upload the png to use as a badge icon, they make the background completely black, making the icon look really bad. any reasons or fixes?

TOP IS ROBLOX’S EDIT (added the background smh)
UNDER IT IS THE ORIGINAL (what it was supposed to look like)

Your putting that in textlabel if yes then check the background color you might set it black or something.

No, im putting them as a badge icon and it does that, i redid all the images i want to 150x150, and now it puts a white background on it.

I think you used jpeg instead of png jpeg gives a background and png gives nothin

if you don’t find any solution for the problem
i suggest you add some kind of background for it (a flat color will do)
roblox really doesn’t like transparent pngs for some reason
or maybe you can add a white outline around the baloon

i actually ended up finding the solution!

Basically, I was uploading a placeholder, then some time later, the actual icon. That is what gave it a background, simply don’t use badge placeholders, and the only way to remove said background is by creating another badge. (7/15/24 - not sure if they fixed it but rewrote it for clarity.)

This is happening to me too, I was going to release a game yesterday but one of the badge icons just wouldn’t be transparent.

For anyone wandering what he means he’s saying that when he uploaded the badge he gave it a placeholder icon with a background, and then he replaced it with the png balloon image and that’s what gave it a background.

This happened to me recently and I had a placeholder icon but whenever I update the icon it gets a white or black background. I don’t know how to fix it but for right now you need to just upload another badge.

Are you using a placeholder of any kind before you upload your actual image?

This would be correct, except what i meant is that the very first badge icon you upload for that badge, it cannot be a placeholder, and it has to be the one you want and if you go to change it at all, roblox will throw a background on it and nobody knows why.

Sure thing. Basically i was uploading placeholders, then actually uploading the badge icon itself and neither had backgrounds, but since it was the 2nd icon for that badge to be uploaded, they gave it a background for no reason. Just upload your actual image and don’t use badge placeholders.

I changed a badge icon from a badge that I uploaded a while ago
