Badges are largely useless. This is a result of games that award large numbers of unexceptional badges. Badges that actually took effort to acquire may be hidden in pages of cruft. Yes, badges can be deleted from the badge section, but a player cannot control which badges are awarded to him. This puts the onus on the player to manually delete any number of unexceptional badges from their profile.
I propose a section on the profile page where a player may showcase badges he has acquired, badges he would like to exhibit. The section that currently displays all obtained badges could be given less real estate on the profile page while the Badge Showcase would take the prominent place the current badge section now holds.
I think this would breathe new life into the badge system.
Most games have throwaway badges like “You Played GameTitleHere!” but sometimes there are badges that are extremely difficult to get that players spend hours getting. I think this feature would add more of a “treasure hunt” feel to badges because players wouldn’t be wasting their time trying to get the difficult badges, instead they can show off their hard work.
This has been suggested but I am glad you brought it up. I really would like them to add this feature because it would be cool, especially for groups that focus on one game, for showing how good you are at certain games. For example, if you are in the apocalypse rising group you could display your best apoc badges and look at other people’s profiles to see how good they are without having to scroll through pages of badges (like who really wants to waste there time scrolling through useless badges).
