Personally, I think it would be very useful to be “rewarded” for contributing constructively to a discussion.
The descriptions of all Posting Badges state that it’s a sign that you’ve advanced the conversation with your contribution. It’s also possible to advance discussions, not just topics in support categories, etc.
This reply, as well as this one or this one, have helped a conversation a lot, and the community has liked the posts and all three replies meet the requirements for the “Nice Reply” badge. In my opinion, this should also be recognized through badges.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience using the forum because it would be very useful to be able to show through badges that you can contribute meaningfully and constructively to discussions and that it’s pleasant to interact with you in Development Discussions.
Don’t get me wrong, my point here isn’t about earning lots of badges, but rather that it would be beneficial to get recognition for your contributions in Development Discussion.

Badges aren’t the point of the devforum. They’re neat, sure, but this would encourage trying to farm badges through the dump that is DD, which leads to my next point:
DD has poor moderation in both directions (removing legitimately fitting posts while leaving the absolute hordes of borderline if not outright spam/slop up untouched) and giving more incentive to post in there would only tank it to oblivion
(maybe a little bit of hyperbole, but most people here would agree it’s already bad enough there and it doesn’t need to be worse)
Above all that though, having badges only awarded in the proper sections such as the help and support section or the community resources section encourages users to actually, well, contribute to their fellow dev community (as is the point of the devforum) opposed to say, asking what kind of music people listen to (“as a developer”)/various “post for the sake of posting” things
I agree with you that the Dev Forum isn’t about badges, but if someone has “rare” badges, it’s pretty easy to see that they’ve made a lot of helpful contributions to conversations, and I think it would be good if the badges could also show that someone is making good, meaningful contributions to discussions.
Of course the badges should not count if the reply/topic has been taken down
I have great reply great topic and famous link. I can tell you personally that I am not helpful or contributive at all lol most of my posts are just me malding at the lack of moderation both on the site and on the forum. Rare badges just means you got in the right place at the right time for maximum visibility on a slightly above standard post/comment.
I also looked at it again and noticed that in almost every topic in the Development Discussion, almost only the first replies get a lot of likes. I’m still waiting for a response from a Roblox employee, but I can’t blame them if they never respond…
