Barn [FEEDBACK CONCLUDED]

Hi there! This is my first post on the Devforum and I’d like to get some feedback on a barn I made.

It took me about 2 hours (but I was super slow with it) and I think I did pretty well.

Feel free to add any suggestions, feedback or critiscim on it. Thank you!

nice build and also are you using blender or the tool part?

I just used Studio and F3X’s Building Tools for this. Thanks for the feedback!
(P.S I’m gonna have a look at blender and see if it’s good for my builds.)

very cool.

i would suggest that you try to add textures.
weather that means wood texture, or adding block pannelling to keep the cartoonish part.

Will try! Thanks for the feedback!

It looks great! I would add some more details to it if i were you, but great!

Using some of Stravant’s plugins like Resize Align and Gap Fill would help you even out the overlapping parts.

I like the design of the interior and exterior of the farm / barn what is missing are the black lines so that it begins to shape that is the only thing I tell you.good job

It’s good, but here are a few things you can improve on:

  • The bright red color is a bit bright, and I think adjusting it to another red would make it better.
  • Align your parts, like SergeantHippyZombie said
  • The windows I think would look better if they were centered in their holes
  • Add some textures, like tsougranis said
  • Try to adjust your lighting, the inside of the barn is a bit bright. To fix this, turn on GlobalShadows and make the Ambient color value in Lighting a bit darker
Good luck, and I hope I helped!

I would suggest adding the plank lines going down the sides similar to the inspiration picture, so it’s not so flat.

Windows could use to be a bit larger, and around the top window it usually isn’t actually a window so I would take out the frame on the inside and just do a frame around the rim.

Hello!

First of all, we as developers appreciate everyone joining the developer forum community, and try to help everyone with their builds!

Overall, the building looks nice, now the detail;

If you want it detailed, like on the picture, try making it 3D’ish if you know what I mean by that.

Try using parts, to create that realism like here:

Then, you can use the grass material for the hay as well if you don’t want it that cartoony.

I saw a couple of mistakes on the building that you have to fix.

Here are the following little errors/mistakes.

The window is a little bit off-set http://prntscr.com/r6k62o

I like your idea overall though!

It’s pretty good. One thing I would do is to make the wood planks use the pattern shown in the picture. Have a small indent between the wood planks.

I did a couple of experiments with Resize Align and Gap Fill and let’s just say it’s a life saver.
It saves hours of me adjusting it stud by stud to make it look perfect.
Thank you for introuducing me to it!

So, I’ve started a design which adds some detail to the build, mainly the 3D’ish one you listed.

I’m starting a poll to see if you guys/gals like it.

  • Use the new design
  • Stick with the old one

(If accepted, the design will rap around the whole building)
(P.S: If you’re wondering about that hideous door aligning, I’ve already fixed it.)
(EDIT: The poll has been closed as I am finished with the project.)

I’ve made the colour of the barn a little less eye-straining, I’m experimenting with textures and I’m working on the lighting in the barn.

I would recommend using the resize aligner plugin to resize the parts that don’t directly meet on the roof. Overall you have good colouration.

Keep improving and stay awesome!

Hello again!

I’ve checked your design, and can recommend sticking with the new one. Right now, I found two more errors/mistakes that I cannot point out right now due to me not being home. I will Show them to you as soon as I get on my laptop.
