Baseball bat swing animation

Hello, I’ll post a devlog soon about this game if you want, but I’m currently working on this bat. I’m trying to make it look as satisfying as I can… but something seems off.

Maybe the trail could use some work? Just not really sure, any ideas for the animations or anything like that are appreciated.

More follow up, more startup, way fewer frames in the middle. Maybe only one swinging frames.

Alright, I think that will work better, thanks.

So its only 4 keyframes now, with the swing, i’m looking for a sudden stop, and thats why there is a long holding position.

i think the start up might be a little off, not completely sure

welll this one honestly i dont think i want to change at all, i like how this one is right now, maybe the left arm is a bit weird at the start but besides that i’m really happy about this one

Sorry- I meant fewer animation frames, not keyframes.

As in, for the actual bat getting from A to B, try not having any interpolation frames at all and using a trail effect. It will feel weird to animate but work better than you expect.

As in, maybe allocate 10 or so frames on the wind up, no frames at all of the bat traveling to its destination (+ the trail effect to add motion) and 10 or so frames of follow through. This is what most figthing games do anyway!
