While yes nobody may play Battle of Flags and i very much doubt anyone will ever play Codename 2024 (name reveal coming soon) i still want to put up my experiences and game design ideas for people to see
each volume will contain my personal viewpoints on a segment of both games and occationally a story from past experiences

Volume 1 Map Deisgn
This is the existing Battle of Flags map
if you look carefully you will see a lot of tall buildings and planks bridging them together this is because when i was designing the 2023 relaunch of the game i wanted to put an emphesis on verticality especially after all of the previous stuff that i have made that is just flat
e.g. Battle of Flags Classic Season 6 where outside of the bridges everything is flat and the map was boring with only 1 location of intrest
another point i also wanted to make was to keep the buildings simple with very limited furniture as
- I want the buildings to be useful in combat
- too much detail breaks the style of battle of flags
- I want battle of flags to run on many devices
so that’s what i did with the reboot i also wanted the map to have stuff going on without becoming the mess known as battle of flags classic seasons 16 and 17 (season 16 pictured below with a modified lighting system and differant lighting engine for clarity)
which leads into the map design for codename 2024
It’s a prerelease version of the battle of flags season 11 map but with major revisions

what you see isn’t much differance outside of an obvious graphical overhaul but i can promise you now 80% of the map’s areas are differant in one or more ways and optimised for a Free for all PVP experience
i have 4 goals with the design of this games map
- make it big
- make it fun
- use the map to it’s advantage
- make it special for launch day
also the map design has made me realise how i can impliment some intresting twists and turns every round (more on that in volume 2 coming next week which will also include launch details and a full map reveal and news on a limited time event in battle of flags)

Welcome to Arena 11 (in this timeline)
and now for highlights
This map is designed with FUN in mind
here we have ramps to enable usage of the vehcles to jump across fences and gaps
there are also a ton of easter eggs such as this subtle referance to a certain game developer that has been “corroded” by steam
also i said i wanted to make the map special for launch day
this is because the 6th july 2024 will be my 10th anniversary on roblox
so i plan to have referances to older roblox projects i made AND atleast 1 tool per year that roblox has added to studio in the last 10 years used as part of the game (and i’ll make it obvious)
and now for the BIG ideas
DYNAMIC EVENTS (not live events… yet)
i’m talking in the middle of battle a boulder may crash down that can destory vehcles
a tree may fall and provide cover
or a door may even open
they are NOT ready for the beta launch in july but i plan to have the first wave of dynamic events out early august
