Hi there, ever since 2024 i’ve been very invested in battlegrounds games, such as TSB, JJS and more. And after getting into game development, one of the ideas i’ve had was to make my own battlegrounds game. But, i’ve really underestimated how hard and how much stress i would have in making one. I failed many times before, but recently i’ve come into the furtherest attempt yet, and not even some basic mechanics are done, such as the skills. So i researched how those game i’ve mentioned made their games, and i’ve noticied that all of them atleast had a team working on certain parts of the game, like scripting, building, animating etc, with even multiple people on one department, and so making me feel like it would take years at best for me alone to make my game. I can’t really contract people as i don’t have any budget to do so, and i don’t have any friends who can help me. So, is it feasible for me to make a battlegrounds game alone?
Waste of time if you don’t have a budget, the robux you spend in production is nothing compared to what you need to spend on advertising.
Hey there, a bit late here. Anyways I would like to say, don’t give up trying to achieve your dreams or make your ideas to reality.
I believe chasing your dreams is never easy to begin with.
I also believe that being ambitious is a key to success. - That includes if you don’t give up.
Both of us are in a similar situation, however I do have my wife working along side me. We dream big and we do big. I’m also new to scripting and everything and i’m also working on a battlegrounds game. All of my roles is animating, programming and everything and hers is all art related stuff and 3d modeling.
My advice for you is to plan ahead before you actually work on it, know what you want and write it down. Write whatever you want to make, list them down. Don’t expect so much from yourself for now. You’re a beginner and you already kinda look down at yourself.
For hiring people, it all comes down to do you have the money to hire and would you want to pay someone to do animation and other things for you?
Personally I prefer working animations and vfx by myself [which i am] because of the standard and the ideas I have.
Pros and cons about being a solo dev is that you are learning all of these, while others focus on just one like animating. You would have more knowledge than those that work on one specific role. Though cons is more stress and work.
No stress no gain.
Last note: Be ambitious and don’t give up.
All the best!
Hey! Thanks for the motivational words! I fortunately got over the most frustrating part of the process, and ever since development has bean steadly, so im convinced that it is in fact possible to make a battlegrounds game alone, although it obviously will not have a very high quality to it, and i only needed to accept that, because it can maybe be this game’s unique charm. If you’re wondering, it may be out for testing in Mid April at best.
