Hi, around July last year I rebranded my UGC store and changed the name of my group. I had uploaded over 1500 assets to this group and at the time my group already had a verified badge.
I lost the badge after changing the group name, but I thought it would come back after some time since I was still meeting all the requirements according to the verified badge guidelines. However, when I contacted support, they told me that since my group was already verified, I could not get the verified badge back unless I reverted to the old name.
It’s been a while since I’ve had this rebranding, and I have so many assets in my group that it’s hard to abandon the group.
If the whole point of verified badges is to make it easier to identify and discover popular and authentic profiles, I hope Roblox can help me keep them even if the group name or username changes, as long as the ownership remains with the same person.
The point of the verified badge is to proof that its authentic and not some impersonation group. Currently the verified badge is used on official roblox groups aswell
If we would allow this then people could easily just change the group name to someones elses group with special characters which could either be a different creator or a official roblox service which would start a bit of drama
However, they should make it so that you get the verified badge after some time again when you meet all the requirements or alternative being able to contact support for them to check the group
I would like to bump this suggestion. Currently, if you want to rebrand your group - for example, to move beyond focusing on a single game or to better align your game studios with your overall brand - the only way to maintain verification is by transferring your games and assets to a new group and meeting the requirements again.
As others have mentioned, to prevent misuse, a cooldown period could be implemented. Additionally, groups would need to meet the verification requirements again after rebranding to remain eligible.
