Best game type in Roblox 2020?

Introduction:-
Hello, I’ve been thinking of making my first personal game on Roblox. I want to attempt to make a game that is approachable for most users.

What I want to achieve and why:-
I mostly want to create this game for profit and recognition among the community, I would like to use these funds for advertising and to allow myself to have a bigger budget so I can get a development team together instead of just myself.

My question to you and your concept/ideas:-
What would be the best game genre and why, could you give an example?
What are your thoughts on my concept? Do you agree with it? If not, what could I change?
Would you choose a whole new genre/game idea for giving the most profit/recognition?

My concept (feel free to list any of your changes):-
I’ve had a bit of thought, the most popular and profitable game genre as of now are Adopt Me - RPG, Bloxburg - Town And City, Tower of Hell - Adventure. My thoughts were originally a low to semi poly game design, which includes houses, parks, etc for roleplaying. It would also have a selection of roles to choose from (child, teen, and parent). There would be two types of currency one type which you earn from by doing in-game jobs. The jobs would be fun and minigame like, this would encourage longer playing time and would overall make the game a whole lot more fun. The other currency would be obtainable in-game however only in very small amounts, this would encourage players to buy the currency (both currencies would be purchasable.) There would also be shops that you buy in-game items with the in-game currency.

Other games which I like the idea of:-
• Bloxburg:- I like the fact that this game was made from only a little help from others, but mostly Coeptus himself. I like the in-game job ideas, although I plan to make mine easier and more engaging. I also like the idea that you can buy a gamepass that doubles your earnings.

• Adopt me:- I like the map layout of this game. I also like the low poly design of this, and I like the concept of looking after pets, and the ability to trade them. I also like the idea that you open the door of buildings and teleport somewhere else, this helps me with interior space and what the exterior looks like, but overall looks cleaner. I also like the house ideas, but may need assistance with the ability to customize the houses and the ability to buy gamepasses that give you mansions/bigger, better-looking houses.

• Roblox High School 2:-
I love the look of this game, from the low poly house design to the map layout. I like the idea of having a skatepark, high school, and parks. I also like the idea of having cars. I also like that you have plenty of roles in this game. I also like the VIP gamepass, I think I could add a chat colour, more daily coins with this.

• Murder Mystery 2/Tower of Hell:-
Overall these games are fun and engaging. They persuade the user to keep playing to win. I would get inspiration from these games for jobs, as I want jobs to be fun and minigame like.

Why I want to go for the RPG and Minigame route:-
By making an RPG and Minigame type game I think I can combine the most popular genres together and by doing this I can gain interest, playtime, and hopefully profits.

Again, these are only my thoughts. Please reply with your ideas if you have any, as I would value other opinions/ideas a whole bunch more than mine. And apologies for the lengthy post I just wanted to try and get at least half my point across, thanks.

The concept you listed at first sounds like a paradise game with the child, teen, and parent roles along with the low poly-ish theme, but you could add your own twist to it so it’s not an ODer central. What you could do though is make a RPG with minigames that have various levels that also have increased rewards as the levels get higher, so the players will keep coming back for more and to play more.

For one thing though, try not to make a simulator. Too mainstream with today’s front page games.

Personally, I love games you can explore, Rob, and roam. But I do not mean like jailbreak, where the only point Is robbing, but more like The Wild West.

Hey, thanks for your reply, I appreciated it very much. That idea sounds incredible! I’d definitely take that into consideration. That concept would be sure to see returning players, and many gamepass ideas.

Thanks for your reply! I also like games like these, I find them interesting and I keep coming back to them. I’m not sure how I can interpret this into my game idea. However, I can assure that there will many ways to play the game and not just focused on one.

So, I may be a little bias in my favorite style of games. I’m not a fan of roleplay games (aside from Bloxburg, but I mostly build and work, not roleplay). For me personally–along with many others–I think that action/adventure games are more engaging. Roleplays seem to get very dry and boring more quickly than say, games like Arsenal which are so addicting and constantly engaging. But, if you’re going for RPG, here’s my thoughts:

Concept

As for this question, I think it’s good that you’re using other games for inspiration, but still interested in making it unique. That being said, I don’t think the parts of your concept you mentioned are particularly “unheard of.” It seems like it would be a mixture of already popular games. My suggestion to fix this would be to keep your jobs and designs unique if that’s the direction you want to go. For example, add unique shops like maybe a bakery or a school where people can actually work. Maybe add different levels and make certain jobs not accessible unless you have a certain level or higher, to boost engagement.

Example

You can work at the Bakery when you first start, but you have to be at least level 5 to start working at the (another example) Zoo. You can come up with the levels and jobs you see fit, this is just an example.

Concept pt. 2

Adding minigames is a very good idea and will help with engagement. On top of that, if you want different roles, maybe try to spend some extra time creating a UI for role selection instead of having the typical, physical area where you walk through a clear wall to get your role. As for the currency, I think motivating people to buy money with special privileges and more expensive ways to say, customize their house, for example, would make the game more profitable.

Genre/Recognition

Again, I personally am not a huge fan of roleplays, but I know lots of other people are. As long as your game is unique and doesn’t resemble others too closely, there is a potential for a good amount of profit. On top of that, roleplays get a lot of recognition, especially for younger players, so maybe a more cartoony appearance is a good idea. So your idea of low to semi poly design is pretty smart. Other than that, I think this concept could take you pretty far if you have the right execution.

Overall, I like this idea (even though RPG isn’t my favorite style). As long as you make this unique and different, you will more than likely have a decent playerbase, and may even find yourself on the front page if you advertise and sponsor your game with the profits you earn. Good luck with this!

Hey, thanks for your ideas! First of all… Wow! The reply itself is not only awesome but the ideas are brilliant!

I totally agree with you that RPG games can be a bit dry now, however saying that I pretty much went with this genre purely because it seems to grab most of the attention of the Roblox’s player base for quite a long time now. Saying that however after I have made this game, I hope with all the funds I receive I could introduce a whole new genre to Roblox, but I know I am thinking ahead here.

I also acknowledge that my concept isn’t really unheard of, but with your feedback and others, I hope I can make a unique game design, and mainly a unique way to make in-game cash and a general way to spend time.

I absolutely adore your idea of a level system, which grants you access to other jobs! I would probably make this so you get a higher grading job as your level increases, which in hindsight would give more money. I could also use Bloxburgs idea of making more money with a gamepass and or developer products that give you a boost for a limited time.

I have given thought on a UI role selection, I forgot to mention this. I would probably have a menu UI which you spawn with, I would make it so there would be a play, role selection, update logs, and store buttons. I also will have a side UI, I like the look of the UI buttons in Adopt Me. As you mentioned, using in-game currency to customize their house would be a good way to make a profit, I would probably prompt the user to buy currency if they have insufficient money. I would also make regular deal UI’s, hopefully persuading the user to buy currency.

Thanks for noticing my semi to low poly design, I also took into consideration that the game may grab many of the younger audience’s attention hence the reason for choosing this design type, I also hope to keep the game cartoony like, so that it is appealing to the audience.

I really appreciate your reply, I will regularly refer back to this. Thanks for the motivation. I will post regular updates of the game, and ask for constant feedback on anything, as currently, it is only myself making it.
