I must admit, looking at the new ads campaign system is quite confusing, but it does offer a lot more in terms of where I can advertise and who I can adveritse to.
My game is a tycoon, relatively cartoony and therefore my audience will be 13+. I have the option to use “portals”, sponsorships, all the banner ads, and image ads.
I know roughly who to advertise to, but I have no idea which formats work best, and which ones are terrible.
Does anyone have experience using Roblox ads, or know which ones perform best? Thanks!
You should test each of them with small amounts of money to compare the statistics. All of them work very well in specialised conditions, since if not, Roblox would just have removed them. You just have to understand in which circumstance your game would be appreciated the most.
I will make sure to do that upon launch, I just wondered if there were some to completely avoid. I heard about portal ads being “botted” and getting a huge spike for about 5 minutes and then dying completely.
But to make it simple, image and immersive ads are relatively more expensive but offer your game more transparency. This means that at the expense of a higher amount of impressions, you can have a larger area where your ad is shown. So, if your game is unique or complex, I would suggest you have a detailed image/immersive ad to explain it thoroughly. If the game is generic or self-explanatory, such as “Obby but on a bike” or “Build to survive”, then you probably should use sponsorships.
That is false. Those who get huge spikes for 5 minutes and then lose players have wrongly configured their ad settings. The Ads Manager uses a “bidding” system in which, if you have a very high bid, your total budget will be drained very rapidly, but you will gain players before all the rest. If someone has a daily budget of 10K but has a CPM bid of 2.5, then he will monopolise all the impressions for a short period of time and then be drained financially. However, the bid should not be too low either. If someone has a daily budget of 10K but has a CPM of 0.1, then he will likely scarcely win any auctions and end up having a refund of 7-9K. Hope this helps.
For the record I think your target audience would be under the age of 13, I’m pretty sure that most 13+ dont play tycoons as often, even so if you plan on going big the biggest appeal is always to kids, I mean how else did Pet simulator get so popular. The answer is kids, and addicting them and what not.
