Best Ways To Promote A Game Before Release

First of all this is my first time posting on this category, so please let me know if I’m in the wrong one.

What is the best way to get a game popular, without even being able to be played yet?

I’m working on a realistic Bigfoot hunting game. It’s almost done, but I want people to be ready and waiting for the game by the time I release it.

What are some ways to do this?

Here are some ideas I came up with.

  • Post a devlog about it on YouTube.
  • Post a devlog about it on the forum.
  • Make a trailer for the game.
  • ask content creators to test the game early.
  • post some teasers on social media/the forum.

Those are just some I came up with. If y’all could tell me any more yall think of I’ll appreciate a lot. Thank you!

(Happy Easter!)

I’d say make yt shorts with gameplay of you and your friends (preferably funny and epic moments).

Good idea! I’ve told my closest friends about the project and they are very excited. I’m sure they will want to help out in some clips!

The best way I have found, as a project manager for multiple projects, is to get a playable version and release it as an early testing phase.

If you ever see a lot of popular games like gun games actually started as testing grounds that were released publicly.

Yes, I’m planning on releasing it to alpha, but I still want to get it known before alpha.
