For me that button is out of the borders.
You guys should let us publish to multiple places at once.
Suggestions:
- Allow bulk search from multiple inventories at once (for example with selecting boxes to search from what inventories)
- Ability to preview play sounds
- Allow to add inventories to favorite or order them yourselves. Currently it’s alphabetic and if you’re or own many different groups it’s a lot of scrolling to find the correct group. Or allow the ablity to hide certain inventories.
- Show assets when selecting the category without needing to use the search bar, the main menu shows all assets not sorted.
Errors:
-
Error when importing sound into workspace with double clicking:
-
Error when importing sound into camera (from the button):
(These errors also break the asset manager and require a studio restart to fix)
Confusing:
- This search results message is confusing as you do think you can click on it to search for results when you clicked on the tiny arrow at the bottom
You can sort by recently created, you probably will have to refresh it though. My biggest issue is I can’t choose to bulk upload assets under my profile if it’s a group game.
Otherwise, it’s fine. There’s just not much of a point adding it without polishing.
I like how this looks, it’s way more in-depth than the old asset manager and seems to have a fresher look. Some feedback though:
- The UI is very unresponsive. Clicking buttons on the sidebar will show no visual feedback and will only switch to that menu after about 1-2 seconds for places with more assets. It feels like all button feedback (eg. hovering and pressing) is delayed by a few frames, making this pretty jarring to use at times (my Studio runs at a consistent 60 fps. I don’t have these issues with the new Explorer.)
- It doesn’t seem like the widget retains it’s state when I open it in a seperate place while another place is open. I have to reopen, reposition and set up grid mode each time.
- Sometimes the “Asset Manager” button is grayed out… I have no steps to reproduce this, and restarting studio seems to fix things
Besides these QoL things, the import workflow is a pretty big step down from previously:
- The old Asset Manager showed a menu of all your imports from a bulk import with their full names. This was very valuable to me.
- The new Asset Manager adds “Images/” to every imported image which is completely useless to me– it already shows the asset type below it, why show it again?
- In grid mode, it’s practically impossible to tell which image is what without hovering over the names of each one to double check the full name. This is especially painful when I’m importing and using 5+ images at once.
I can’t see the names of my images!
- Last thing: Right clicking an asset then clicking “Copy Asset ID” copies the integer part of the ID. Why does it do this? The only time the integer is useful to me is when I put it into an instance property, where it automatically fills the “rbxassetid://” or the roblox URL. With this, I’ve had to manually type “rbxassetid://[paste]” when placing it into scripts each time.
