BIG Opportunity for Scripters

Hello all,

I have recently come into contact with Strutt20, the owner of Mineplex, one of the most popular Minecraft servers. He is currently working on a Roblox project and is in need of a talented scripter. He says the following:

With the game having so much potential to be very high profile with some immediate popularity due to the Mineplex name and the millions of community members and YouTube attention it will get. Therefore, I want it to be smooth and very sharp out of the gate. So I’m looking for full-time or part-time contractor with experience in Roblox combat management and general game mechanics, designing and implementing Roblox UI, and utilizing the Roblox data storage API for persistent user data in a game mode. Pay is very good and hours flexible if needed!

Proficiency in Lua (object oriented and otherwise) and the Roblox API is a must

Anyone interested should post here and I will get you in contact with him. This sounds like a pretty big opportunity (with pretty big pay ;)), I strongly encourage posting examples of your work and stating your strengths, it could get competitive.

Thanks
Lilly

Seems like an interesting project, and it’s great to see communities from other games taking a larger interest in ROBLOX game development.

It’d be great to take this on, and I’m sure many other developers here would like to as well.

I might be interested

I’d definitely be interested. I’m proficient in Lua, along with a dozen other programming and scripting languages. ROBLOX is my full-time job currently so I am extremely flexible, and currently have no major projects. You can find my games on my profile (Xep - Roblox) although I can’t say they show my full capabilities. They are all simple games.

My strengths are definitely the fact that I always try to work ahead of schedule, and I am great at problem solving. I believe that under any circumstances there’s always a better way to do things, so I strive to find these ways.

I am great with non-Roblox UI, and I’ve heard that my Roblox UI is really good although again my games aren’t a great way to judge my skills seeing how all but one of them are years old.

I don’t really expect to be selected as there’s quite some amazing talent here, but I figure it’s worth a shot haha.

I’m interested!

I’ve been on ROBLOX since 2008, and have had 3 major standalone projects on the Top Popularity list for quite some time; these titles include Don’t Blink, Catching Fire, and The Hunger Games. These three games cumulatively have earned me over 10 million play sessions. I took a hiatus from ROBLOX to focus on school from 2015-2016, and have begun rebuilding on ROBLOX in 2016-2017.

My skills include:
• Object-Oriented Programming in Lua
Orginization, Structure, and Readability
• Backend Programming: Game Mechanics, Data Storage, Player Handling
• Frontend Programming: Player Mechanics, Multi-Platform Integration, User Interface Handling
Smooth Terrain / Map Generation

My biggest weakness would likely be grasping my own ideas. In my own projects I sometimes find difficulty in beginning because I can’t narrow the scope of my thoughts. Being contracted into your project, I feel my weakness will be counteracted due to your guidance of what you want to see.

I helped ROBLOX with their Egg Hunt Event in 2015, one of the largest events on the platform, by scripting the Eggs which were present in all of the game places.

I was a part of ROBLOX’s SXSW Panel with Minecraft and Project Spark, talking about UGC’s.

I have a part-time job as a Supervisor at Starbucks, thus my schedule is that of any retailer. I often go in after 5PM, so my dayparts are commonly clear. I am very easy to communicate with and would love to be a part of the project!

I am not interested in this type of job, mainly because my time management, and record of having game breaking at launch, is terrible, but I may be of some aid. I have released Ultimate Boxing, and it does utilize a special round system where you users can choose rounds to join, limiting long wait times after being kicked out of the round, or simply not joining in time. If whoever works on this idea needs and help for designing this type of system, or help in general for things like data storage, I can be used as a resource.
Main reason I am offering this is that they are actually surprisingly hard to make. I haven’t seen another game use it without the TeleportService, and I want to see if I can change that.

I’m interested and I will happily provide more details upon request.

I’m also interested. I will provide work examples and history upon request as well.

I can make a counter count down from 10!

In all seriousness, sounds cool. I just took a job offer though so I wouldn’t be able to do this.
