I’ve been working on this game for a few weeks now, it has garnered a very small playerbase but I’m sure a large part of this is due to a campaign I did a while back with leftover ad credits. I’m lost on what to do next, what to improve on, and what I can really do to get my game out there.
I feel like it’s easy enough to get into and understand, but it lacks replayability even with recent updates I’ve done in an effort to combat this. What can I do to improve my game? And also, while not the primary reason for making this post, I’d like to ask that any bugs that are found be posted below.
what i’m thinking is, use more vibrance in colours, like instead of just faded, dark reds and blues, use more vibrant shades of those, and maybe even other colours like greens and purples.
also include tweening for when you hover over buttons, like when the mouse is hovering over a button, tween it to become smaller, and make it become normal size again after the mouse exits it.
So more vibrance in colors. I have to agree that they are kind of dull now that you mention it. Also, I already tween for size (and sometimes rotation) on alot of buttons when you hover on them, but I mainly increase the size and then set it back to normal when the mouse leaves the button.
Would switching over all the hover tweens to size tweens and making them shrink instead of expand be better?
okay wait, make them expand when hovered over, go back to normal when un-hovered, when the mouse button goes down, make it smaller, when the mouse button goes back up, make it normal/the hover size if the mouse is still in the ui’s proximity
This isn’t the best picture of the upgrade UI, but, I feel like this is a main thing that should be improved. What do you think would be the best course of action to make this feel more engaging?
what i’m thinking is that you should make the win colour green, so that there’s not 2 blues
and uicorners to round the uis and overall make them look more satisfying
make the colours a bit less dull/more vibrant
maybe make the borders a bit less thick(?)
In my opinion, references to gambling is a grey area in the terms of service, however since the term “blackjack” is filtered on the search page, they probably prohibit them.
With that aside, the game is simple enough, and I like your use of sounds effects as well as haptics. You could improve the game by adding a room system, and you can take inspiration from LOCOfficial for this. Particularly giving the room host the options to have BOT and/or real players, as well as adding temporary room effects that players can buy (e.g. upside down cards).
If you wanted to expand your reach, you could also integrate a game mode system which allows users to play any card game that the room host chooses, this way they aren’t just restricted to blackjack.
It is a gray area, and for good reason really. To my knowledge (in which I could be wrong) you can make a blackjack based game as long as you don’t allow betting, take games like Twenty One which do this.
I like the rooms idea, it’d make the game feel less isolated and more engaging. I’ll try it out next time I have the time to work on the game. I might try to implement more games than just blackjack in the future, but that’d be a long ways away since the whole game is structured around it.
