Alright so I know the game is still pretty early in the development stages and so all critique I’m giving is only things I’ve noticed that can be changed to improve gameplay.

First off character animations can be smoother. Right now running is very sharp and the body does not bend when running, nor do the legs. The only body part that remotely moves is the arms but even then it is quite unnatural. After picking up a weapon and holding it in 3rd person a lot of times the gun will go through the character.

Second, I’m not sure if this is a glitch or the feature is not implemented yet, but you can’t pick up anything besides a gun right now.

In terms of the map design I suggest maybe a variety of trees as well as better terrain. I can’t decide whether or not the terrain fits in with the game. It’s quite sharp because of the polygons but as looks like it doesn’t belong in the game. Possible play with smooth terrain for better integration into the game?

For now that’s all the critiques I have for the game so far, good luck on development and can’t wait to see the final product! :))

Looks like you couldn’t figure out how to pick up items either :thinking: You have to have clothing like a Backpack to pick up items that aren’t a gun or something you wear. I saw another person not figure this out too, and I’m trying to think of a subtle way to let people know that’s how it works

I finally figured out how to decorate the landscape with Trees. I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I really like the concept of this game! There are some bugs I found, and I also have some other suggestions. The first bug I saw was that there isn’t really a way to click “Create Fraction” at the top of the screen. I also noticed that it sometimes lets me pick up things, but sometimes it doesn’t let me. I don’t know if there is a inventory with limited storage, but if there is I couldn’t find it. I have one suggestion. Sense the game is called Wasteland, you should make it look more like everyone has gone crazy, and it’s the apocalypse. I think you should add a bunch of waste over some of the mountains, and even parts of the city. It would really make it seem like it’s the apocalypse and there is mayhem. Well, all in all, I think it has a lot of potential. Good luck!

2 Questions for you, im really interested in this by the Art part.

How did you manage to do such large size amount of terrain, triangle by triangle, generated, sculpted, i have a similar Method. :stuck_out_tongue:

After decoration the landscape with trees have you had any issues with low FPS, or the new roblox updates on perfomance for mesh and parts have made it good enough to make a sadbox of such size.

Oh and a suggestion, try making it like ARMA 3, or let the people build Hescos and Hearquarters around the terrain and let them make their in-game clans, that way people will control parts of terrain and will be pretty much a persistent open world.

Was it the worst possible solution to streamlined map making? That’s exactly right. Was I unwilling to make a Plugin for it? That’s also right.

The map itself does not lag. At least, not for me. It’s very easy for my rendering system to handle. The real trouble comes with the trees. One time, I changed my settings to render the entire map at once, trees and all. Let me tell you, that was a horrible mistake.

It’s all handled by my Rendering System. I’m assuming most people could play on Low or Normal render distance with minor lag. The rendering isn’t optimized at all right now, so once I do that it should run much faster.

Terrain seems nice, the trees are well done also.

EDIT: Perhaps add in some play-ability with the ocean region, perhaps a sunken ship, marooned submarine, or even a little island village. Otherwise cool concept for the map.

Looks pretty cool so far, the avatar customization really reminds of the one used in Apocalypse Rising though, not that it’s a bad thing, just thought it would be interesting to point out…

For anyone who doesn’t want to drop money on the game, I’ll be making it totally free tomorrow alongside a new massive update. I’ll be running ads all day long, so expect there to be other players.:skull:

Ohh man, I’m loving the map design, reminds me a bit of DayZ, the good times.

Are the trees billboard guis or meshes?

I played your game and the sentence I quoted above is perfectly how I feel like. Please note that the critiques listed below are completely at random. ( I added critiques that came to my mind first )

I am also sorry for bad grammar and spelling that I missed correcting on.

1: Trying to change your pants, shirt and backpack… Will require you to drop your old pants, shirt and or backpack causing to drop all your items. Very inconvenient.

2: The generic grey flashlight is a nice tool to see at night but could you upgrade the actual light it emits more?

3: Pretty much Critique 1 but can you implement a system where if I want to wear pants Y, the pants X I am already wearing doesn’t need to be dropped manually but automatically? also, take into account that items that are dropped due to this change should not be able to do so

4: Gun attachments don’t seem to work…? I’ve been trying to attach a vertical grip on 3 different guns (T20, AK-74M. Winchester) and it did not attach.

5: The guns I strolled upon seemed all to have a standard magazine of ammo. One particular gun (T20) did not have a standard magazine though.

6: The game feels like a walking simulator. Maybe consider adding a vehicle or more places to wander around.

7: It took me quite a while to figure out the game controls. I have an AZERTY-Keyboard and it is generally a pain that games don’t support any different keyboards other than QWERTY

I still don’t know after 60 min of playing your game, how to chat with other people. Even though it’s " / " according to the game.

8: I have no idea if the ammo boxes are the right ones for the gun I have. Can you rename ammo boxes? example: 5.56X3.9mmm → M4A1 AMMO

9: I can’t move items in my Hotbar which is very inconvenient if I have to quickly draw my gun.

10: I’m not sure but the only spawn point is at the beach near Trenton? due to this problem loot will be far scarcer and PVP very common in Trenton whilst the opposite problem will occur in other towns.

11: I got killed by the only other player in my server ( of course I did :rage: ) I had no idea where he was shooting me from. Maybe add a system whereas a player that gets shot has an idea in which direction the shot came from.

Example: In Dead Winter the bullets are huge white bricks and due to this I know exactly where I was shot from because I could see said bullets shot from noobly :gun: and duck for cover.

In your game bullets are invisible and that’s why I added critique 11
