What’s New?
New Ghost Type:
Vuult
The Vuult is a ghost that’s activity is dependent on drawing energy from nearby electronics. It becomes more and more powerful as more electronics are near. Despite this, It does NOT want to be too powerful.
At a high enough ‘Vuultage’, the Vuult will be able to completely smash the EMF Reader, rendering it unusable. It can also hunt at any sanity if powerful enough. It can also no longer turn the Generator On. To get the Vuult to high Vuultage, you must have a total of 25 Points.
- Each Electronic: 1 Point
- Each Player: 1 Point
- Generator being on: 5 Points
Reach a level of 25 points to achieve MAX VUULTAGEAt low Vuultage, the Vuult will turn on the Generator more often, and cannot turn it off. If the Vuult has no electronics or players nearby, and the generator is off. It will have a Hunt Sanity threshold of 0% and be active at the same rate as a Shade.
- Evidence: EMF Level 5, Ghost Orb, SLS Anomaly
New 7th Evidence: The SLS Camera
After working in the labs, Blair Inc. has developed a unique piece of Paranormal Investigation. This Camera is able to detect anomalies that are seemingly unseen to the naked eye. Armatures of the ghost are visible to only ghosts with SLS Anomaly evidence. This does mean evidences have been shuffled a bit, which include the following ghosts:
- Banshee
- Harrow
- Shade
- Vuult
- Wraith
- Yama
New Cursed Object: The Haunted Music Box

If you are a brave enough soul to play this tune, the paranormal will hum along with you.
Do not drop this while it is playing
Banshees’ singing will be heard from a little bit further away, listen closely.
Yama have a special ability where they allow you to get a little bit closer before they hunt.
New Ghost Event: The Hallucination
No Audio cues and they disappear when you look at them. The ghost will appear in a very shadowy form. Will make you second guess reality. Ghosts take on a different appearance at <50% Average Sanity. Aggressive ghosts tend to avoid this interaction. Shy ghosts love this interaction.
New Ghost Interaction
The ghost can now interact with radios, washing machines, tea kettles, and treadmills. All similarly to how they interact with the phone and TV.
New Journal design: The Tablet
Journal has been sunsetted and is now a tablet! This new UI features a sleek design and new sounds. Also displays ghosts and items in a more efficient manner.
Tablet Gamepass is now the video camera app on the tablet.
[Coming Soon] I plan on allowing players to customize their tablets with custom background, home screens, theme colors, etc. This will be a free feature.

New Challenge: “True Hotel Hero”
I heard you. I noticed you guys all found Hotel Hero to be a little bit too easy. Well its time to up the ante. You cannot do this with friends. You have to rescue my child. You have to make it out alive. To achieve the True Hotel Hero is to be a truly skilled player. No carrying. No cheesing. Its all you.
- You must free the Boo Boo Doll
- You must get a photo of the Ghost
- Nightmare mode. all 7 challenges
- NO FRIENDS, you have to do this solo
- All 3 Objectives complete
- You have to get the ghost right
- You cannot die, includes revives
When you complete this ultimate challenge, you will be awarded what I consider the coolest skin pack in the game. The Vintage Antique Skin Pack.
Perfect Game
At the end rewards screen, if you guess the ghost correctly, complete all objectives, take a picture of the Ghost, the Cursed Object, the Boo-Boo Doll, and a Burning Crucifix, and no one dies (including revives) then you get a “Perfect Game”. Adds $20 before the modifiers.
New Weather Types
Sunrise!
Its just beautiful. Nothing unique to the gameplay other than its pretty light outsideThunderstorm
Will be updating this weather type to be more interactive with the map/environment. Right now it makes Strigoi more invisible and gives Vuult extra charge
Lighter changes
Picking up a lighter no longer uses a item slot. Instead it temporarily creates a slot and places the lighter in that slot. However, this means you can only have 1 lighter in your inventory now. I know that one guy who carries all 4 lighters is gonna be devastated to hear this
Easy Mode Changes:
Easy mode felt more like “wait a long time” mode. To combat this, I made temperatures almost IMMEDIATELY freezing when using the thermometer. I also boosted Spirit Box response rate to be 50%. Speaking of spirit box…
Spirit Box Changes:
Spirit box felt more like a “turn it on and then chuck it into the ghost room” type of tool. I didn’t like how unengaging this was. To prevent that, I made it so the periodic ghost sounds will play at a rate that is so low it is no longer the primary way to get SB Evidence. However, I made it so the spirit box will display text in the chat when the ghost gives a response. Now all players will be able to see spirit box evidence rather than just the ones who are close. NOTE: Periodic Ghost sounds will not display the text in chat and can only be heard if nearby
EMF Reader Changes:
For ghosts with EMF Level 5 evidence, there’s now a slight chance that the EMF Reader will hit level 5 during a ghost hunt. This only occurs when the ghost is hunting and the EMF is disrupted
Parabolic Microphone Changes:
- Now mutes the surrounding environment while turned on. Immersive!
- No longer plays the ghost’s sounds after the ghost has finished hunting.
Salt Changes:
New Surface Appearance and looks more… salty
New SFX for salt
Photo Camera Changes:
Should now gauge priority for objects that are closer to both the player taking the photo and the middle of their screen. Ignores objects that already have been registered. Previously, the game would catch a subject that has a higher priority, but has already been registered and then invalidate the lower priority subject that hasn’t been registered.
Ghost Sounds updated:
Dreamlurker and the Harbinger now have unique and updated sounds
Door Changes:
Doors now open and close from their hinges. Previously they would dip all weird and look incredibly unrealistic.
Slightly Varied how the sound effects play for doors. This is to prevent Audio Fatigue.
Ghost Changes:
Harrow
Harrow now get a 20% Event Frequency boost per player in its room, causing it to get more aggressive and territorial.
Can hunt at a 10% higher average sanity per player in its room. if 5 people are in its room, it can hunt at any sanity. Look out
Puling The Chariot tarot card will always result in The Fool for Harrow
- some of these features snuck by and made their way into the Main Game before they were ready
Terminology Consistencies:
“Ouija Board” > “Spirit Board” or “Talking Board”
Fingerprints evidence > Ultraviolet ← I heard people say that “footprints” aren’t evidence because they’re not fingerprints and this will hopefully solve any confusion. (Does not include Mulburry map UV that you may occasionally encounter)
BUG FIXES
Ghost Fixes
- Harrow now properly changes ghost speed and it is 100% dependent on distance from the ghost room. Previously it would only do this if it didn’t have Line of Sight of any player.
- Demons properly ignore crucifixes when they use their ability.
- ZoZo checks if the player is actually in line of sight before counting them as “Looking at them”
- Nooks properly steal items now, and can even steal while hunting.
- Faejkur’s Parabolic Microphone laugh now checks distance from the ghost, and not its room.
- Ghosts no longer “Cannot throw X Item”. Instead, they now throw X item 70% less than usual. This made all ghosts way too easy to identify and resulted in being the primary way to determine ghost type
Map Changes
- Fixed ALL exploit spots where you could climb up something to evade the ghost
- Fixed Stillhouse basement’s “Outside” bug where you huddle up next to the door to get the ghost to stop hunting
- Stillhouse Hallway is now a ghost room
- Orphanage Hallways are also ghost rooms
- Fixed Aldridge Hotel stairs causing pathfinding errors, Sorry hotel hero players
- Aldridge Hotel mail room now decorated! Finally…
- Tightened up some hitboxes in St. Mont’s Chapel and blocked off the cave entrance from the Main room. Ghost just could not reliably traverse this area.
- For Special Fan rank and above, the Super Secret Aldridge Hotel Bell feature has been disabled for Nightmare mode, this is because people were using it to evade the ghost while doing Hotel Hero runs… Cmon guys, this is why we can’t have nice things.
Misc.
- Hotel Hero now requires all objectives to complete, previously it would only require you to get the ghost right and to take a picture of it … if you’ve exploited this, you know who you are. Thank you for not reporting this to us
- Hotel Hero end game reward lowers drastically the more players there are. Does not kick in until after 2 players.
