Hello developers. I’ve been modeling in Blender, and when I wanted to bevel a vertex, it doesn’t seem to make a mark into the object I want to bevel. Can anyone help me here?
hmm sry for the late response I didn’t see this post.
but have you tried applying all transforms?
you can do this by pressing CTRL+A in object mode then select all transforms in the popup menu
im not to sure what the problem is but I hope this fixes it
Probably a better way to do this that I’m not aware of, but you need an edge in the middle there.
Pressing F between 2 edges or verts fills the space between them.
Yeah this was a solution I found after I made this post. I’m still wondering if there’s another way to do it.
It probably ruins topology, but using a boolean modifier to make those marks might be easier and allow for more irregular damage.
NO please don’t a Boolean for something like that it will make useless endgons and ruin topology.
using a bevel like he did is much better.
Booleans are only for cutting into objects with weird shaped not creasing an edge.
sry if this was a little harsh lol
I couldn’t really tell what his issue was is it that the bevel isn’t actually going into the model and instead just making another face?
also, kind of a small thing but at around 6 seconds instead of just selecting the bottom 2 lines once you fill in the top ones you should also select the bottom of the top one so there not 2 lines inside of each other. it’s a really small thing but can be annoying to work with when there’s 2 lines inside each other.
an easier way is to use the knife tool by pressing K then selecting both vertices and pressing spacebar
also as you can see in the video a the 3 other times I beveled the Vertice on the cube it worked fine but that last time it didn’t so I’m not sure why.
I went into blender and experimented with it seems that when you have a loop cut above and below the line, you’re trying to bevel it works not sure why buy maybe since the bevel can’t go beyond the top and bottom lines, so it has to go inwards.
the edges end at the same vert, it doesn’t make a new vert
tried to merge by distance, got nothin
